What's your guys favorite 80's band? Mine would have to be Journey, but I really like most 80's bands.

wrong section sir. this belongs in the popular media section.

but im not really a big fan of 80's music, the whole glam rock thing never really liked.

but i like metallica, megadeth, meat puppets, etc.

my favorite would have to be the dead kennedys though. probably the most influential punk bad ever

Late 80s/very early 90s was the beeeesssst. Dream pop and shoegaze heyday right there. Lush, Slowdive, Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins, My Bloody Valentine, Chapterhouse, Ride, Curve, etc. etc. I looove shoegaze/dream pop, so the late 80s/early 90s is awesome for me. Still gotta say I like 90s/00s/10s the most so far, though. 90s was when my two favorite varieties of music - indie and extreme metal - really blossomed.

METALLICA! I love them so much, they shaped modern rock and metal alot with their style and techniques.

80's but they were still around in the 90's. I love The Cure they so desereve to be on this list "Just Like Heaven" and "Why Cant I Be You?" are brilliant. Also Blondie they have some pretty cool songs.

I know AC/DC started in the 70's, but they were in the 80's too. So does that count?
If it does that's my favorite band.

i think saying metallica is a fail is ignorant. cause they deffinatly arent. over rated, yes absolutley, but the influence that theyve had on the industry was HUGE

I don't. I do believe they were a tremendous influence in Thrash Metal and harder metal styles and genres but that is it. Metallica is a good band, but they aren't god-like in any way and they get WAY too much attention. Which is a FAIL.

And do not call me ignorant, when I believe there is a great chance of me having a better understanding of music than you... just saying.

Hop off that band wagon and look at some real 80's icons:

Alice Cooper
ABBA
Aerosmith
The Beach Boys
Bee Gees
Blondie
Bob Seger
Bon Jovi
Boston
Talking Heads
Tom Petty
Twisted Sister
Queen
Quiet Riot
U2
Dead Kennedys
Dire Straits
Sammy Hagar
Santana
Skid Row
White Snake
Def Leppard
KISS
The Ramones

Yeah...Sit Down.

Of course Megadeth, Metallica, so on... but Dokken sticks out as the only "80's band" that I really like.

Wow, that is a combination of 60, 70 and 80's bands. ABBA was big in the 70's, and Beach Boys were 60's, and I noticed you never mentioned Devo, a very popular 80's band.
