I've been dissapointed now for two years in a row. Last year Uncharted wins. (sorry uncharted fans but we Xbox owners don't happen to play PS3 exclusives) Then this year Red Dead Redemption beats Halo Reach (oh and Black Ops). WTF?! How is Red Dead better than Reach? This is an outrage. I will find the people who are responsible for this, then strap them down to tables. I will then burn off their little game of the year picker toes. Next I will shoot nails into their arms. Finally I will shove chopsticks all the way through their eyes.
That was a bit too.....violent? Creepy? Anyways, the only award that made me happy was Action Adventure game of the year which was won by Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.

I was mostly happy with the results, and happy that Black Ops lost GOTY, i loved all the games nominated (excluding Black Ops) and Red Dead was one of my favorite games of all time. Still think Halo should have won, but whatevs.
Also - best character is Sgt. Woods? I THINK NOT! obviously the best was Kratos!
At least Black ops didnt won Best multiplayer, the awar went to Haloand im happy because this new cod multiplayer is a copy paste of the mw2 multiplayer but this time balanced and not ridulous
It was a completely new genre, Rockstar has never really had any games of that caliber released, i.e. it had no backing from previous games.
Call of Duty, Halo, God of War all have massive franchises behind them, Red Dead had , dare I say unprecedented success for a brand new game.
Well actually it wasn't a completely new IP, it was based on a game called Red Dead Revolver, and while it wasn't a sequel story wise, it brought back some of the ideas from the original, so it already had some sort of footing, and the fact that it basically was GTA in a different setting doesn't help either. If it was an unheard of company with a new IP(such as the original Half-Life I suppose) then I would be surprised.

Revolver, too date sold only 1.5 million copies, while Redemption has already sold over 5 million.
Granted the GTA influence does give it some backing, however GTA is set in a much more modern setting providing players with huge varieties of weapons and transportation. Something that when it first came out was probably a huge detractor for the GTA fans.
go to your friends house, play it on HIS/HER playstation then come to me and say any other game deserved to win over that game.

i believe that god of war was the ONLY good good game nominated in anything XD and i have played pretty much EVERY nomination, so im deffinatly not one sided.
i think people need to except that ps3 has the best games now. but really.... RDR game of the year? what a joke. god of war smashed EVERY video game on that list.

Sure Halo and CoD are popular, but think, are they really all that, coming out almost every year. They are just the super popular over-rated games right now, but think are they really that epic? Before it was like Halo 3 and MW1, then Halo ODST and MW2, now Halo Reach and Black Ops. They're just common but popular games nowadays.
Red Dead totally deserved it out of what was nominated from Spike.

RDR had pretty much no originallity to it at all. i mean yes it was a good game but come on god of war three was just plain out GENIOUS. a true work of art
