Grunge all the way! Kurt Cobain with Nirvana... Alice in Chains! Rock has some good but they have all good songs of the 90s! Who did rock have that was as successful as them?

There isn't a way to classify rock. If New Wave is rock, then Grundge is rock. So is Metal, Punk, Classic Rock and some forms of Pop.

Perhaps the question is: Which subcategory of rock music is your favorite?

Technically, no... that's not all rock music. Rap is definitely not, neither is funk, disco, do-wop, R&B, some types of pop can be pop rock, and reggae is stretching it... Rock more defines bands from The Beatles, beach Boys, and Elvis to Black sabbath, Led Zeppelin, def lepard, lynard skynard, metallica, slayer, ZZ Top, Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Foo Fighters, System of a Down, Disturbed, Slipknot, Korn, all the way through.

NO! YOU FAIL HAAAAAAARDCOOOOOOOOOOORE.

if rap isnt rock then rock is dead. wether you like it or not, those ARE apart of the rock genre. its not a matter of oppinion its FACT. if you know anything about rock history you would know.

music evolves dude, and you wanna know something? if we defined rock by what it was when it was first sort of invented in the 40's then in order to be a rock band you have to be, black, have horns, no guitar, and a standing bass. so therefore none of the bands you listed fall under. now, music HAS evolved and now we have music that is almost NOTHING like eachother. but rap IS rock. rap spawned from disco, and disco spawned from other forms of rock, therefore rap is rock. know your stuff so you dont spew stupid stuff from your mouth

it's a tough question (grunge or rock) because "Grunge" is a sub genre of Rock. It's like asking do you like Star Trek or Sci-Fi? That being said, I do enjoy grunge music (music reached perfection in 1994). But I do still like a lot of other non-grunge rock music (hard rock, metal etc..)
