How can you eavesdrop on the internet? If you post something on ag or anything you know anybody can see this. Eavesdropping is that the other think nobody's listening and you listen.

I don't think you can eavesdrop on the internet, but in real life it can be wrong if you know someone is telling a secret that the person doesn't want you to know or when you use the information for your own (bad) purposes.

I find that it is wrong but loads of fun to do. :P. Anyway, its wrong to mind other people's business.

Yes. Don't do it, you might ruin a surprise or the relationship with someone.
Besides, there would most likely be a reason for the conversation to be between a selected few people, where you are not involved.

People talking about stuff in public (the internet for most part is also public) is not eavesdropping.

herm well you know its not hard to eavesdrop when PEOPLE ARE SHOUTING! or some says your name for example take a bus people are always shouting and your ears become used to the noise and you eventually hear conversations ( or those this only happen to me ?) and then you try to get in it and get shouted at

It is sort of rude, I mean if it is a private conversation, you're not in it for a reason. However, I have good hearing so i hear bits and pieces as I walk by or doing something. Plus, it is kind of hard not to overhear people talking when they are almost shouting or near you...

It's really not too bad to eavesdrop, a little annoying, perhaps, but privacy like that online is limited anyways.

I don't think it's good or bad to do, it can be either. If you're doing it just so you can find out their secrets and humiliate them, then it's wrong. If you happen to hear them talking in a public place...then that was their choice to be talking where anyone could hear. If they go off on their own, I say respect their wish for privacy. But when they choose to stay around other people they have to realize that you can't just turn your hearing off.

Not really, I mean I do it all the time in Assassin's creed.

Anyways, I think it depends on the conversation. If it is private, then it's wrong, if it is public, and a general knowledge sort of thing, then I don't think so.

I don't think it's rude as long as you aren't actually going to tell other people about it or meddle with those peoples affairs. And besides, if you don't do that and they do not know you are eavesdropping, then what harm is there in doing it?

I HATE eavesdropping and I hate when other people do it. Of course that is for normal conversation. Now if it's for valuable information. Like the time I was working for the KGB...

Most of the time, no. If your in a public place and you're talking about something that shouldn't be talked about in public, then I will listen. But I probably won't comment on what you're saying, or tell anyone else, seeing as I'm not that kind of person.

Now, if your talking about an entirely private matter in an entirely private place, then the matter is, well, private. So that's when it's wrong to eavesdrop.

I agree with you on that one. That is pretty much what I do when I hear a conversation ;D
