a couple of weeks ago i noticed that my girlfriend looked kinda sad, i went up to her and asked her what was wrong, and she said nothings wrong, theres just nothing to smile about.
Which leads me to the question: Is there nothing to smile about or nothing to frown about? All opinions welcome
I think it depends on what's going on in life. There are days/weeks even months were it feels like there's nothing to smile about. But then there are days where the time flies and everything seems wonderful
This reminds me of that other thread a few months ago.
Do you see the glass half empty or half full?
I try to be optimistic most of the time but sometimes I'm just in a bad mood. Or you could be an agathist and think that the world will eventually be good but bad things will still happen.
There is plenty to frown about, but it doesn't make sense to constantly be pessimistic. Being a downtrodden mood reinforces that downtrodden mood, focusing on that downtrodden mood makes it even worse.
I'm neither, I'm a realist. I frown about bad things and smile about good things; I don't have a defined/forced reaction for every situation as pessimists and optimists have.
pessimisism.... in a universe where u r designed to fail..... dont expect much....... it will make u humble, except the bad turn outs and also the good ones as equals...... thusk my life...
Same here. I also tend to be a realist. I'm a person who accepts the world as it literally is and I deal with it accordingly. If she's acting like that, maybe you could do something to make her smile? You're her boyfriend after all.
I am usually a pessimist. If you expect bad things to happen, and bad things do happen, you'll expect it. And if good things happen, then it'll be a nice suprise.
I keep a healthy scepticism coupled with pessimism when necessary. I do believe that often, one needs to look at things with optimism. If I was without, I'm pretty sure I'd be screwed by now.
Just don't keep expectations too high. Be realistic. Santa Claus won't rescue you from a horde of zombies.
Like, the economist says the glass isn't producing products at full efficiency, and the buddhist says the glass is already broken, and such? Just curious.
That depends on what needs cleaning. Wearing the same clothes over and over again produces a horrid stench, at least in my case. Also, despite my lazy ways I despise cockroaches, ants, and rats crawling all over my living room.
