TL;DR at bottom. __________________________________________________________________
Now we all know we as the "Casual" gamer's console designed for a few people on a weekend to just play when they're bored with no achievements or any fun in the one player story (I admit there is some exceptions). Personally when I first heard the wii coming out I thought "Intense graphics, Great sensor and anyone who plays gun games will love it"
Notice Wii's advertisements are all directed on multiplayer.
But of course with Sony and Microsoft to fight with on the market Wii made it a family console which, I admit, undoubtedly has made sales soar. Then possessing earlier Nintendo characters combined them to make a few good games. But despite that in real figured 80% of games on Wii are just horrible casual games.
I'll give you an example.
Ninja reflex
I played this game I really did and it is the worst game on wii I have ever played. This game made vomit look good. It's about 5 mini games smashed together with Ninja's to sell. You have to earn belts from the mini game and the reward when you get all belts...YOU RESTART. The max time anyone has probably played this game is half an hour. The first 10 minutes is pretty good. You just play the 6 mini games since that is all you have to do. Then...there is nothing. If you managed to complete the game you must be crazy (Like me). I struggled to keep my eyes open and that was harder then the mini game.
So now here's the question could you see Wii as a hardcore gamers console. I personally could. The way the Wii operates has many ways it could open up and with a few graphic fixes I think it would be amazing.
The problem is that the Wii has so many devs just throwing together garbage, probably not testing it at all and releasing it. The Wii needs more dedicated devs.
Look at the games Nintendo makes (Zelda, Mario, Metroid), their amazing. Wii can be hardcore but about 60% (think) of devs suck.
I think that it would be good if they got good games going for the wii in those genres, such as CoD is already doing.
The racing games I have played on the wii are hard to control as you must hold the wii remote sideways and turn it. It seems to be ultra-sensitive to that sort of motion. I have the F1 2009 game, and it is pretty good as a racing game. Normally I won't buy racing games unless there intense simulator or officially licensed by a racing series, which F1 is.
the wii has so much potential to be a great console i mean some multiplayer games work nicely on the wii (most dont). and there are some games that are actually really good like super smash bros. not to mention you can use your wii as a gamecube which was a life saver for me since i never had one and wanted to play the games really bad. AND you can buy more new or old games in the wii shop. when someone thinks about the wii as a console it can be a really good one but they just destroyed it by making it not a harcore console. i still think it has a chance though
Not after Ps3 move and Kinect came out... SO i dont think that wii will ever be a hardcore gaming console, but its still an allright console and has some pretty fun games!!!
wii does have great potential like rabbit said..but nintendo doesnt know how to apply it properly..for starters the nintendo gamecube couldve been amazing..it was more powerful gaming system then the ps2 and xbox but because it had 1 less button on the controller and all the game discs were smaller then ps2 and xbox discs..so if nintendo had added the extra button and bigger game discs it wouldve had more games on it that are on the ps2 and xbox..thats why people dont take it seriously and why nintendo doesnt either...
actually the gamecube is my favorite console ever. its kind of ironic i dont even own it XD thats why the wii was my life saviour. i always wanted to play those gamesa and when i discovered the wii is also a gamecube i bought like 4 gamevube ganes i always wanted to play
in my opinion the wii itself is an amazing console. the games though are amazingly bad.i mean the wii has many great features and im not counting the moving the remote one.
