Now we all know we as the "Casual" gamer's console designed for a few people on a weekend to just play when they're bored with no achievements or any fun in the one player story (I admit there is some exceptions). Personally when I first heard the wii coming out I thought "Intense graphics, Great sensor and anyone who plays gun games will love it"

Notice Wii's advertisements are all directed on multiplayer.

But of course with Sony and Microsoft to fight with on the market Wii made it a family console which, I admit, undoubtedly has made sales soar. Then possessing earlier Nintendo characters combined them to make a few good games. But despite that in real figured 80% of games on Wii are just horrible casual games.

I'll give you an example.

I played this game I really did and it is the worst game on wii I have ever played. This game made vomit look good. It's about 5 mini games smashed together with Ninja's to sell. You have to earn belts from the mini game and the reward when you get all belts...YOU RESTART. The max time anyone has probably played this game is half an hour. The first 10 minutes is pretty good. You just play the 6 mini games since that is all you have to do. Then...there is nothing. If you managed to complete the game you must be crazy (Like me). I struggled to keep my eyes open and that was harder then the mini game.

So now here's the question could you see Wii as a hardcore gamers console. I personally could. The way the Wii operates has many ways it could open up and with a few graphic fixes I think it would be amazing.

Would Wii as a gamer's console work? When I say gamer's I mean Ultimate graphics, Guns, Racing and single player.

i hate to say this but it means nothing. the wii is meant to be for people who dont play that much and arent really gamers. so if something is meant to be for most people then it will obviously sell better even if it isnt really good. i have one friend who has the wii but alsmost ever plays it. she also has really bad games like wii play and some kind of birthday party game.i really cant understand why she bought it

lol and since most people in this planet like to have fun then most people would actually buy so its not surprising the wii sold so many consoles

Look at the games Nintendo makes (Zelda, Mario, Metroid), their amazing. Wii can be hardcore but about 60% (think) of devs suck.


Nintendo is not hardcore though. When in think 'hardcore' I think of MLg, which is just not a feasable option on the wii. However, when some people think of 'hardcore' they imagine gamers slaving away trying to get the 100% completing. In this regard, nintendo still fails.

Nintendo has mostly all together stopped making difficult games. An excellent exmaple is the new feature of "the game shows you what to do", found in games such as new super mario bros and LoZ: Skyward sword. It just takes all the challenge of the games, as once again nintendo appeals to the casual market.

thats mainly because little kids are playing these games and they cant expect little kids to like games that are to difficult for them to play

I personally would like to see more Core Games on the wii, as the console does have great potential, but I don't want the Wii to be a "Core Console". Lots of not-so-core games on the wii are great fun, unless you consider Mario, Rabbids and some other Nintendo games to be core. I peronally own one and recently bought Black Ops, and it is so MUCH FUN!!!! Seriously, I don't really need the top graphics, because the game itself is the source of fun, not the graphics. And the BO multiplayer is just awesome and a good example of what a core wii game should look like. I think that Nintendo will strike back at Sony and Microsoft with the next console (also the 3DS coming out in spring), as it has a great potential and many talented studios are woriking for it (High Voltage, Retro Studios, Atlu etc.)

This topic is about the wii being a hardcore system, is it not? therefore the games should be able to follow suit. Most developers have already developed hardcore games for other consoles, such as the fallout series and such. And yet little kids have been able to adapt...

The fact that you said that just shows how child-oriented the wii has become.

i know that im just saying that they dont make hardcore games for the wii cuz they dont expect kids to be hardcore gamers that like a challenging games

Wii really has great potential to be a hardcore gaming console but they just need good ideas for games. Look at CoD Black Ops for Wii, its awesome! Yeah, the graphics are not he same as XBox or PS3 but the gameplay is awesome and also the multiplayer. That game is just one example that the Wii can be a hardcore gaming console.

yea the graphics arent as good as the others also the wii doesnt have as great online play as the 360 and ps3..as an examplen black ops for wii they have removed several maps from the wii version that is in the s3 and 360 versions..
