I thought maybe we could have ordinary users who do not have the powers real mods do. They just do what would benefit mods.Like

Reporting Users
Finding thing worth a merit
Flagging things
Give people warnings if they break rules
And All That Lark

Maybe there could be 50 or so and they get wages of AP or something.

Good Idea??????

Wat?

We already can do 3/4 things that you listed, and "finding things worth a merit" we used to. Everyone is able to do these things, yet most do not do them. Now, if everyone was active enough to have fun AND report the naughty individuals, then maybe there wouldn't be such a thing as spam here!

Also: if the team can trust people to do a bit of the mods' stuff, why not trust them with the full powers/responsibilities of a mod? Now there's something to think about

I basically do do that occasionly but if we could get more people doing that it would be a better place. Like global warning, if most people helped put things right it would be better for us all.

Maybe they don't want everyone to have there shiny blue text.

Hmm.

I just think that some users should be able to clean out spam if they see it. That's all. Not full Moderator powers.

1. All mods are part time. We are not paid to moderate the site, so it is not as much of a job, but more a hobby. Thus we moderate in our free time.

2:
Reporting Users
Go do that. No, really, you don't need a shiny "I'm almost a mod" to do this.
Finding thing worth a merit
Don't do that. It is really annoying, and will make us believe you hate the user you are trying to get a merit, because we will ignore it.
Same goes for "I think -user- should be a mod". If that person is not a mod already, either they don't fit, they have not shown their worth to us yet, or we are already considering them.
Flagging things
Please do go this also. At least in AG3, it will actually help us mods as well.
Give people warnings if they break rules
I am going to ban your butt if you do this.
You can tell them the rules, ask them not to do what they did:

Hey, I am not sure you are aware, but less than 7 words in a post is considered spam. *link to sticky/rules/guidelines*.

Not:
Hey, you are breaking the rules! Stop spamming! You are not allowed to write posts shorter than 7 words! You will get banned!!!

The reason why we don't want this (Neither really, but if you really must....) is because the user might not take it very well, and that could cause trouble for the person doing the warning. If the person is a mod, then we can always follow up with a ban, but a regular user would most likely end up either being spammed and flamed, or join in on this, getting in trouble themselves.
So rather, go report the user to a mod. After all, we have the tools and trust in our abilities to handle such conflicts.

3. We have had this up before, not only here, but between Ian and us mods, and it has been ruled to be a bad idea. If we cannot trust someone with all our abilities, there is no reason to give them half of them either.

Conclusion: Be a good user, and it will all solve itself.
