Hey guys, I wanted to predict the NFL playoffs this year, so I'm gonna start my own thread and keep this going up until the Super Bowl. You are welcome to post your own picks here if you want, or just discuss the playoffs in general!
Wild Card Round (Jan 8-9): (I predict scores too, they're probably way off though. Just pay attention to my winner picks.)
Your kidding right? Have you ever been to a Jets game? Nothing beats 60,000+ fans all in unison cheering on their favorite team. Madden is nothing like this...
I'm going to have to agree with Justin, however I see the Pats edging out a win over the Jets. Probably a close game, but I think they have the edge in that one.
I think so. He's an awesome quarterback and has some great receivers. He needs a bit more protection in the pocket and a defense which keeps the opponent down, but other than those two main things he has everything he needs to get another ring.
Peyton Manning only needs a defense. For now, his explosive offensive power can keep most opponents down. However, if he has a bad day, the Colts ussualy lose. Their defense is mediocre at best. It doesn't matter how many touchdowns you throw, if you can't stop your opponent from scoring either.
Anyways, he's only got a relatively short time frame to do it; I'm predicting that he'll retire within the next 5 years. Unless he pulls a Brett Farve...
Yes! Ravens lost! I don't even support any AFC North team, but the Ravens are in my top 3 of most hated teams, because of how overrated they are, and how babyish their players are. Now I can only hope the Packers beat the Falcons, and then the Bears beat the Seahawks, and then Rex Ryan take a baseball bat and beat Tom Brady with it... That's going a little too far, but I honestly hope the Jets can pull an upset or a miracle just to shut the haters up. I'm still sick of people making fun of me for being a Jets fan. You might've seen me talk about how there's this annoying Eagles fan in a class of mine, and when they lost, he still kept making fun of the Jets. I don't imagine the Jets winning the super bowl, but I hope to god that they do just to relieve some stress in my life. But back on topic:
Falcons>Packers - I want the Packers to win, but the Falcons are amazing. They've got a great QB and great receivers (they match Green Bay in that category), and then a great running back (Green Bay does not), and very good defense (GB has a good defense too but I think that ATL will outscore GB), as well as better special teams. Coaching is pretty even, I'd say.
Bears>Seahawks - No doubt about it. I want the Seahawks to win because their coach is a great person and coach (Pete Carroll) and I look up to him, but the Bears have the advantage in almost every category. They have a better QB, who finally grew up this year, a better running back, better defense (Urlacher + Briggs and then Julius Peppers is basically all you need for stopping the run + pass rushing), and better special teams (Hawks have Washington, but Bears have Hester and Manning, not Peyton or Eli). I think the only thing the Seahawks have that the Bears don't have is a receiving core. Or at least a better receiving core. When I watch the Bears, I feel like their only good receiver is Johnny Knox. The Seahawks have a pretty weak receiving core, but they do have Mike Williams and also players like Brandon Stokely and the guy with the really unusual name (forgot) seem to get the job done. So, Bears have the edge. Coaching is even again.
Patriots>Jets - I hate to say it, but the Jets barely have a chance. I personally think that the Jets have a better defense and better receivers, but the Patriots have a better coach and a better QB. Tom Brady versus Mark Sanchez is like a matchup between Joe Flacco and Hellen Keller. Brady, although very inferior to Manning in my opinion, is ridiculously good. Mark Sanchez is horrible, and I'm a very biased person. Jets do have a better running game, but Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead are getting the job done in New England. So, there goes the super bowl run. :/
With the Packers going to the NFC championship and a Ravens loss I think its obvious its going to be a Pats vs. Pack Super Bowl. 4-2 in my predictions/ losses coming from Ravens and Colts. Pats dominate Rex ryan today and Chicago shuts don Seattle.
