I already knew the spots were worthless.

Why, because you didn't find anything with a Detect Magic spell?
According to that logic, the whole hill is worthless. Which is not true.

Perhaps it isnt on the top of the hill, but on the sides/edge?

Three days. It really is quite a simple solution. If one of you would like to cash in another hint, I could give you a little more help.

It really does make you seem intelligent when you repeat exactly what someone else just said a few seconds before.

Well, gee, if only there was some sort of object that you could use to scout the area covered by the overhang...hmmm....some kind of lengthy pole that you could stick in to test the ground so that you could find the suspicious areas and then dig those targeted areas up instead of excavating the whole place. If only such a mythical device existed!
