Most likely you were scared and confused, so you panicked, and when the ogres showed you lost it. If you were in a situation where you were in a storm or something then woke up somewhere that looked a lot like a cell with no clue as to why, you'd freak out too. A classic failure to S.T.O.P.

In a cell with or without all equipment? 2 different responses there.

"If you woke up in a cell and there were Ogres all around, what exactly would you do, Sir?"

"I would fight them."

No equipment, but you found it in a nearby storeroom. Oh, btw, maybe you should explain WHAT ELSE you found in that nightmarish fortress. Namely, the pair of Hill Giants who were guarding your cell...

I assume both Hill Giants were either pwn'd or easily outmaneuvered?
