Has anyone ever heard of either one of these bands? They are the shining examples of Alternative, and a couple of my all time favorite bands. I would like to hear some thoughts or opinions about these bands.

I'd say that the 80's was a pretty low time in music - that horrible synth sound, yuck. I'm not going to insult the music that you like, but personally, I am not a fan of it.
Danny Elfman and Mark Mothersbaugh have been doing the scores of several movies, including Tim Burton's movies(Danny Elfman), and the Cartoon shows like Rugrats and Powerpuff Girls(Mark Mothersbaugh).
Although I do love my favorite childhood cartoon, Rugrats, creating music for popular cartoons and movies does not equate to being a good band.
Well, the original question was has anyone ever heard of these bands, not just are they good in your opinion. There was a lot of crap in the 80's, but there were a lot of bands who started in the late 70's (like Devo) who actually sound pretty good if you get used to it. I also like bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Dio, The B-52's, and so on who were all 80's bands. I would also agree that most bands that started in the 80's kinda suck, and most of the bands I list on my profile started in either the 50's, the 60's or the 70's(with the exception of Collective Soul and the classical music and such) but some of them also sounded pretty good in the 80's.
