I think 3-D is an over-hyped tool that is completely unnecessary, it seems like mostly 90% of the movies that are out today are in 3-D, and most of those movies don't even harness it, like The Green Hornet. I didn't see a single thing that was 3-D in that movie, nor did it make it feel like i was there. I think its just a tool that they add to their movies to jack the price up on movie tickets. Plus, I hate wearing those glasses for the 2-3 hour run times. What are your opinions?
So is using the computer too much, playing games for hours, or watching TV all day... I just checked "the intertubes", and there seem to be some agreement on the fact that the use of 3D, especially when used correctly (like in Avatar), will have little effect on your eyes, besides perhaps straining them, if you are unlucky. This is mainly because the people who want to make money on 3D are trying to make sure the costumers, us, are not going to get hurt. If we have a bad reaction on something, we are less likely to repeat the action that gave us the bad reaction.
That, of course, does not remove the fact that there should be proper options to choose one view over another, especially for people with less resistance for this type of movie.
Well personally I am not the biggest fan of it. I like the idea of glasses-free 3d though. And I'm sure it won't be any worse for your eyes than spending hours on a computer or watching TV
Ugh. My dislike for 3D grows every time I go to the theatre. I'm ok with 3D for some movies, like some animated ones, but with some movies it just doesn't seem appropriate. I don't go for the special effects, I go for the content. Sometimes it doesn't even look good, especially when the put it into 3D after shooting, instead of shooting it in 3D. I'd rather they just leave it 2D.
my friend was really high and he came up with the best highdea ever. he was like... "we should invent "knee-D" where only the knees are in 3D" i was just like yes......
but anyways i digress.
i feel like its just unnecessary nowadays its just pointlessly spending extra money for glasses
Most of the movies out are in 3-D. I don't like that. I enjoyed the times when the movies were out in 2-D and some special ones were out in 3-D, but now all movies seem to be out in 3-D. I'm not a big fan because I'm not used to things coming out of the screen a lot. I've always watched movies/TV shows in 2-D. Now though aren't they making or already have made 3-D TV's? I mean it's a nice little feature to have in movies every now and then. They are abusing it though and it's less fun to watch movies in 3-D now.
The glasses are an annoyance. I don't like having to wear glasses in the middle of the movie. And in some 3-D films there not even necessary for most of the parts.
It's a big waste of money as well. Having to pay extra for a pair of paper/plastic glasses.
I just like to see the flim normally. Without any of the objects moving or jumping out at me. 2-D FTW!
3d is sorta cool but i wear glasses and its hard to wear 3d glasses over my regular sometimes people say to take off my regular glasses but then i cant see for crap and i dont like wearing contacts so it would be cool if they would make the 3d where you dont need the glasses
pink ones with white frilly bits and red love hearts on.
Was faaar from impressed. Coupla cool moments where perspective changes but otherwise pants. Im not going to see a 3D movie until they improve it. Depth is the way forwards.
I also wear regular glasses, and I can't get contacts, so wearing the 3-D ones over mine gives me a major headache. I agree that a lot of 3-D movies are just to jack up the price, not to enhance the movie. Also, it's hard to get tickets to a 2-D movie that was also in 3-D. Which is stupid.
I think 3D still needs to be perfected. The Nintendo 3DS which can,
"...produce "3D effects without the need for any special glasses"
-en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_3DS
is the way to go for the future of 3D. No glasses needed, however I think that there is only a small viewing angle at which the 3D effect is produced, so I don't know how that would translate over to the cinema.
So, I think 3D movies, in the future, will look better and won't require glasses. Right now though people need to actually go to 3D movies so that it will produce revenue for the producers of such movies and so that 3D movies go out like a passing fad.
