I have to agree with you completely. As I previously stated, pirates weren't random, dirty thieves. They were trained sailors with expert knowledge of primitive firearms and how to navigate.
So you don't feel at least a bit discouraged by the fact that you'd be taking another person's life? Personally, I'd rather watch paint dry than murder someone.
Pirates, obviously. Sea, sabre, mead and wenches, gold, cannon fights and.. uh, well, sharks, imperial soldiers shooting at you, hangings, scorbut.. but that's all just peanuts comparing to the cowardly assasinations, exhausting training all day and night long, total obedience and forced discipline, and probably the growing paranoia ninjas must probably go through.
it depends on the type of ninja, and the pirate, They are pretty dang close, but i would lean more towards an assasin ninja because i love stealth and free running like stuff they do, pirates are just plain cool

In real life, weren't they just ninjas? All of them being assassins?
pirates are usually either drunk or high
More drunk then high, if you're talking about the stereotypical buccaneer.

Not true at all, Ninja's were originally peasants who rebelled against samurai for their treatment, only later did they evolve into assassins, were as they originally fought together in groups who ambushed. There are also many other kinds of Ninjas as well (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!!! No jk, but there seriously were)
