Does anyone else hate when people rant on game systems because o graphics? i really don't think it matters too much, some people decide what game consle to buy because of graphics
I don't like playing a game with Playstation 1 or 2 graphics. I like for the game to look realistic so I can better enjoy it and the scenario.
If people do buy the console for the sole reason of graphics though. I don't understand that. I pick a system for graphics, exclusives, longevity of the system and some great features.
Graphics are a good addition but people should worry about all the other things of the system. The system can have the best graphics in the world and if it doesn't have any good exclusives/other features then it's not worth it.
well it really depends. like i usually give graphics a pro but not a con. you know what im saying like if a game has amazing graphics then ya ill say that. but if a game doesn really have the best graphics ill be like oh well i wish the picture was better but oh well
I don't care too much about graphics in games but I usually analyze them while I am playing. I have a PS2 and I am okay with the graphics although I like playing games with better graphics too. But buying a system because of its graphics is insane. I would buy something because of the things I like in it in general.
If you care about the graphics, buy a PS3 and an HD television that runs in True 1080p, About as good as you can get. But about hating people who rant on games graphics, I am half and half.
Having a Wii, and playing games like Wii Play and Wii Sports Resort, the don't need good graphics. And simply wouldn't be the same on any other system.
But when it comes to a game like Gran Tourismo 5, I can understand where fans look for nothing but the best in graphical quality.
graphics are not everything i mostly go for the story line and gameplay and controls but there is a limit on the graphics i have to at least be able to tell what everything is i can go without ultra realstic graphics as long as the game has a long good story mode
The success of the game Minecraft should prove that graphics aren't everything.
You win one internet.
Then there's Cave Story....
I have the right to slap any one of my friends' faces if they hate a game because the graphics, textures, and meshes aren't optimal.
My ratio on how a game should be:
48% Story 51% Gameplay 1% Graphics
Sure, it's cool if a game looks stunning. However, a rose without any thorns isn't a force to be reckoned with, if you drift my catch. The reason why I frequently play more of the older generations of games is because the newer games lack originality and gameplay.

So you like watching movies that were meant to be games, Matrix? You should play Xeno Saga. Graphics are amazing. 90% of the game are cinematics and you get to play a minimum of the total game time. Should be the perfect game for you!
I agree 90% with you. Because I'm a stupid 15 year old boy, I'm willing to let plot side a bit if the game play is superb (Borderlands).

ugh... go play Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. That game was THE FIRST seamless videogame world (i.e. no loading times between zones, you can just walk right in) a feat so massive its something that games such as Oblivion, fallout, Borderlands, Mass Effect, Dead Rising couldnt do (granted they're all excellent games, and they had their reasons, and i hate them no less for it). Not even Naughty Dog's top competitor back in the PS2 era, Insomniac Games, could achieve this with their Ratchet and Clank Series. (I loved teh series, i know its still going strong, but i dont have a PS3)
What I'm trying to get at is that graphics don't have to be realistic to make a game. Mentioned above was Minecraft, which is a FANTASTIC game with very blocky graphics. Cell shading is far from realistic, but games like Borderlands or Crackdown 2 (I love that game, idk, its the only bad game i love) are still immensely fun.
So i hope that before you play your next game, you understand that before Dead Space, before Red Dead Redemption, before Call of Duty, before the PS3, there was Shadow of the Colossus, there was Crash Bandicoot, there was Halo: Combat evolved, there was Animal Crossing, and most importantly, there was Super Mario.
Depends on how much I care for graphics. Did I pay for a game in which graphics and relaxation is a focus point? Or did I pay for that Crash Bandicoot made 6 years ago to have a laugh? Graphics amplifies Gameplay's effects, and Gameplay amplifies Grpahics' effects, depending on the type of game I want, the ratio will change. First person Shooters? Yeah, there's little core gameplay to them except graphics in my opinion. If it were something like an RTS (Pointing at Age of Empires II here) then I couldn't care about the graphics because IT'S SO DANG FUN!
The success of the game Minecraft should prove that graphics aren't everything.
I agree. The gameplay and the story (if the game has any) are more important.
But all of you guys must admit that graphics is a BIG plus sometimes, you know the feeling when playing a game with ****** graphics and you know you can't hide from it
lol those stars are supposed to represent "b a d a s s" XD But you can actually think of them as something uncool too cuz the both cases are true, There's a specific feeling when playing games with graphics that rock and those with graphics that just suck too much

Crysis = Woah. Pacman = AGHHH STUPID GHOSTS GET AWAY FROM ME1!11!!!
:P But I do sometimes get the feeling for a game with incredibly poor graphics and thought that they should have invested a bit more into it :>
Look at Magicka - They don't focus too much on Gameplay (though it is amazing), because of the fun involved in the lack of it (such as lacking IFF tracking, for the most part). Plus, dude. That game is so funny!

I can enjoy Oblivion just as much as I can enjoy Daggerfall. Sure, graphics can make your bones shiver when you experience spectacular effects. That's why I gave it a 1% in my criteria instead of, say, 0%.
