this was probably the worst halftime performance i have ever seen. it suckeddd so bad, i had to mute the TV just to survive the ordeal i realized later i could have changed the channel but didnt think of it right then. did anyone else think they sucked really bad?
The Black Eyed Peas isn't really a band by my definition. None of them were playing their own instruments. I really lowered the bar when judging them because of this, because you can only do so so much with vocals alone when live. I'm not criticizing them for this though, because they are still a group putting on a show and that's just the kind of show they perform.
The vocals were heavily altered through technology, which is important considering their style. The background music and beats are important because the vocals and bass must work to bring each other out. Without one, the other doesn't sound very good.
I believe the reason Fergie sang Sweet Child of Mine was because it allowed her to sing more naturally. Honestly, I don't think she was that bad at all singing this song. She wasn't amazing or spectacular, but it was enjoyable to say the least. Even then, the lack of music volume hurt this part of the performance as well.
