Battlefield 3 had been announced for a while but now some information is coming in:
1) 64-player maps.
2) It's probably happening that they are reverting back into having many, many classes.
3) Prone is back.
4) Destructible terrain is remaining.
5) You can drag allies to safety.
6) You can mount weapons on nearly any kind of terrain (which I'd imagine goes with terrain that is royally blown the hell up).
7) This is just my speculation, but I think the reason they are introducing more classes is to do with mounted weapons etc, the "Heavy Weapons Guy" of BF2 could have that specific ability and use it to great advantage.

Discuss!

Highly looking forward to Battlefield 3! I played the heck out of #2 for years, but do not have the internet for online, so I just played singleplayer. So far, the features you listed sound great! It makes teamwork that much more efficient.

Oh.

It makes teamwork that much more efficient.

Indeed, however the #7 point was merely speculation as mentioned. I hope that is the case though.

More speculation involves the actual classes:
1) Assault - Can do the basics of pretty much everything, carry people, place weapons and etc. Has Grenade Launcher which can shoot Grenades only.
2) Special Ops - Silenced SMG with a dot sight (like in #2), has the most potent explosives, radar jamming and can only drag people (or not). Unable to mount weapons but makes up for its heightened mobility and flash grenades.
3) Heavy Weapons Guy - LMG with inability to carry other people but can also supply other people, the weight of the weapon and bullets prevent aiding others (with exception of suppressive fire) and hinders movement.
4) Sniper - Purely long-range unit, very helpful in an indirect fashion by spotting enemies, chasing them out of cover or pinning them down through use of a remote Mortar Strike. Benefits include their ability to carry others and mounting weapons which nullifies swaying (if it did anyway).
5) Engineer - Has explosive mines targeted for vehicles, a great bridge of defense. Is capable of dragging soldiers out from the fight but cannot carry (Carry and drag are different... not confirmed to be different in the game mind you ), also has smoke grenades to defeat a tanks heavy artillary fire, whilst using a shotgun for close range combat.
6) Medic - Possesses lightweight and efficient technology to revive, carry and heal his allies. Lacks a proper weapon (relying on a pistol or otherwise small submachine gun) but makes up for it in slightly better armor and better-than-average health and mobility.
That's my idea, anyway.

Dragging - Makes hip-fire much less accurate; also preventing aiming in, you can only use your main weapon or pistol, though there will be a few exceptions like explosives (however taking yourself AND your ally wouldn't exactly be very heroic of you) for "that stupid moment".

Carrying - Quicker, same results happen, except you can easily turn around and you have a better line of sight (with dragging you often look down to your teammate you are dragging).

Sounds a wee bit realistic to me.

SPECULATION REMEMBER.

I hate it when people take my word for it then yell at me :<
