Actually, in the official minecraft forum, you can find many servers or guilds with public IP's. Most are whitelisted though, so you might have better luck just playing multiplayer classic on the official minecraft site
I'm never too sure about my BB code writing abilities so if these links don't work you can always look for them on Google or another popular search engine.
Would I be allowed to post a link to a texture pack me and my friend are working on ? I mean It is kinda advertising but we are not making any money off of it >.>
