It was the will of the people. He had no choice, unless he wanted to slaughter his own people.

I think he made the right choice. If he loved his country he should care about the people and try to keep them alive, not trying to kill each other. On the other hand, the fighting may escalate between the winners and the losers because they made him resing, especially if a bad ruler come to power.

The man was in power for 30 years. That means that a man that was 42 had only 12 years without Mubarak in office. If it was like that in America, we would have revolted a long time ago. Of course he should have stepped down. Especially when your own military stages a coup against you. You can't stay in office after that...

Mubarak was being stupid. he waited till people really were gonna kill him and then he got the police to run them over.as an arab, he should have got off soon. it could have just been like a dictatorship. thank god the swiss government stopped funding him

Mubarak was a friendly dictator, compared to others. He didn't oppress, but he didn't really do anything.

Should he? Yes.

Was it necessary, not really? I mean, if you're are a strong proponent of democracy in the world, yes. If you are apathetic towards dictatorships, as long as they don't threaten democracy elsewhere, not really.

@Kevin
An entire nation was screaming at him for 18 days to GTFO.

Excuse me. I should've said that if riots had never broken out, then no, it wouldn't be necessary.

Also, I still don't believe you are 21 or 19 or however old you claim you are.

Secondly, a dictatorship is a BAD thing.

Rome elected Dictators, giving them absolute power, in periods of distress for only six years. The problem was, they didn't want to give up the power.

You are more then welcome to travel to, say, the Sudan, Saudi Arabi, Iran, etc where you can freely exercise your right not to speak freely, your right not to write freely, your right to be arrested for belonging to a non-goverement sanctioned party, your right not to freely assemble, your right not to petition the goverement for redress of grievances, and your right not to donate to a nongoverment approved entity.

dude, be serious. u think that in saudi arabia and other arab countries you arent allowed to do that? if so, u really need to go there and see for urself. then say what u want

I think it was a good decision Mubarak left the the President office. Maybe now the country and the people have more economic opportunities, because there was a big unemployment in the country.

YES, because the egypt people wanted it. if a dictator is not wanted by its own people, he/she should step down. if the dictator is wanted by its own people, thers's no problem. but assuming that not all people that weren't at the squere are pre-mubarak, most egyptians wanted him to step back, so: yes.

In a dictatorship public opinion means naught. You either agree with the dictator or you face punishment. Thats why it takes drastic uprisings such as the rebellion in Egypt to remove a ruler. There shouldn't be dictators ruling countries in the first place.

I want say anything about Mubarak since I don't really know anything about him except that he ruled Egypt and many people hated him and that he owned the police if I'm correct.

Secondly, a dictatorship is a BAD thing.

Dictatorship can be good depending who the dictator is. A dictator could run a country fairly put on appropriate taxes, and create a strong economy sort of like Hitler did. He was a good leader at first rebuilding an entire nation, and then he went down hill the power went to his head. And he was a dictator the whole way through in my opion.

But more often that not dictators are evil cruel men.

"The road to hell is paved with good intentions. How many African countries had revolutions against aparthied and the like, only to become what they fought against?"

Also deserves to live in freedom and democracy to the people of Egypt. Then again, hand in hand if the people of Egypt I am sure will be better than before.
