I'm pretty sure you will be able to get achievements on the 3DS too.

The 3DS has 3.

I'd still go for the NGP though. The DS was nice, but after seeing all the shovelware on it, I'd rather go for the sparse good game with good development funding on a PSP than stroking ponies and feeding dogs on the DS.

well wait the 3ds comes out next month the psp2/NGP will be a good choice to but that will probably way to expensive for my taste and the 3ds will be in 3d and have 3 3d cameras

It's all personal preference.
I would wait until that new PSP comes out though because you don't want to waste money on this older version instead of having the newer possibly awesome one.

Though I'm all about Sony for regular console concerns, I'd go with nintendo for portable; though quantity does not mean quality; it does promote the chance of good games being produced, and there are jewels among the tons of crappy game for the Ds.
In fact, it all comes down you gaming preferences so what you should tell us first is your gamer tastes.

Yes, yes, buy a portable system based on the number of cameras and other nifty gismos that other independent hardware can do far better. That's exactly what the game companies want you to do. No, we, the customers, don't care about the game feature itself, NO, we care about media, cameras, pictures, internet, and social media apps. We couldn't care less about playing games.

In all serious, the DS, manufactured by Nintendo, has a better, higher-quality selection of game libraries. And it has been proven. With the PSP going where it's going, it's clear that they aren't going to be focused on gaming. But check out the 3DS. Flying-Free-Roam-RPG-adventure? HOLY SHWARTZENGERMAN!

Yeah, totally better quality in games, the 3DS has.

Oh wait, you want 3rd-rate gismos and media. Well, nevermind then :/

I think it is better you wait until the new PSP comes out besides buying the old one or the DS. I know people that got disappointed after they bought DS.

I'd recommend not getting one at all as they don't have many good games(IMO). However, if you insist on getting one, I'd wait for the new PSP.

@Freakenstein

Frank always has the right word.
Thumbs up if you DENOTED SOME SARCASM!
And, I agree with him, but then again, there're some exclusivities at the present time that are still good for the PsP even though I execrate the console so if the good sir would inform us of his video game tastes, it'd help.

Idk, depending on your $ situation, I would get the 3ds when it comes out. Nintendo is awesome, it has classic games and characters that everyone knows. Anyway..... The Ds is 3d.

It's really not the video game tastes that affects my decisions, but how the hardware performs in respect to gaming, plus the libraries for said hardware. The DS excels in both, save for lower graphic qualities. I don't care about that, however. I care about how the hardware performs in a game, the games themselves, and what the hardware can do to enhance gaming. If I want a camera, I will buy a dang camera. If I want to listen to music, I just go to WinAmp. Both do far better in response to the built in features that come with the hardware.

Touch-screening is different, as it is not something that performs a job, but rather aids in the performance. A co-enzyme. The speakers on your computer. The elastic string around your underwear. Robin. And when touch-screening helps enhance the gaming portion of the hardware, what ANY feature is supposed to do when implemented in a GAMING system, then it earns points with me.

Well, I actually bought a nintendo Wii for the sole and unique purpose of playing metroid prime 3.

Those be your decisions, though my mind tells you that you wasted money. Buying a system for one game? XD

I don't just look at any games in particular, but rather what the library gives the hardware, plus what the hardware is, as I've explained above. Sure, there are games on the list that I prefer playing over others, but that is because I expect it to be great. Even so, I don't make popular, mainstream games be the deciding factor over which system is best.

You should totally get the DS. It is 3-D and has a wide variety of games. And don't forget the 3-D! =D

I'm this kind of person; the two first metroid primes had excited me so much, I couldn't bare to not play the third.
Then again, I did buy super samsh bros brawl afterwards.

I'm not letting games decide which console is best, but if the array of games at your disposal for a particular systems suits you more, it'd be unwise not to go for it don't you agree?
I bought a Ps3 knowing that I would prefer the system's games to the ones of the Xbox. As a dedicated gamer, software, graphics and popularity will never influence my decision as much as games.
