well I believe everything was asexual initially, then along came mutation. and then like earthworms they eventually spawned both sexes on one. (you need 2 earthworms to reproduce, they have both parts and when they are done they both get pregnant) then through more mutation, some species lost one of the two and needed one of each to proliferate their species. so you can say yes, the chicken came first.
