The purpose of this post is very self explanatory I'm just making a poll to see what Rock Band is the most popular. Anyone may post their opinion on what their favorite band is. Regulations 1) Must be a real band 2) Has to be rock, punk rock, soft rock etc. 3) Band members must still be alive.
Why must the band members all be alive? I mean, that rules out a whole lot of 60's and early 70's bands. Plus, you should probably include a reason with the band you chose.
My pick goes, at this point, Rush. The lyrics to the song use some of the most sophisticated lyrics of any band I have ever heard. Also, all of the members are superb at their instrument, and Geddy Lee even switches instruments in mid-song. Overall, a great band.
I think making the band members still alive a rule will make the contest more original rather without it everyone would say something like The Beatles, since its obviously one of the most popular bands that ever walked the earth. Btw I choose Green day because I really enjoy their music as well as the simple and addictive tones their music has which is pretty unique to them.
Does a metal band count? Most of the music I listen to is listed under that genre. For example, my favorite band of all time is Slayer, one of the most revolutionary metal bands of all time, paving the way for the entire death metal sub-genre and writing lyrics that to this day offend people. They also have one of the greatest drummers of all time, Dave Lombardo, who is often considered the god father of the double bass drum.
If metal doesn't count, I would have to say Motely Crue. I can't really give a good reason, I can just say that their songs always put me in a good mood, and even though they are often bashed by my peers, I believe that they are one of the best rock bands of all time.
Without a doubt, its Rush. Geddy does vocals, bass and synths. And have you ever seen a Neil Peart drum solo? Great lyrics, and only three songs with questionable lyrics.
