I will try to gain some perspective and argue that education should be privatized.

As in everyone has to pay for education? Would the government provide school vouchers to all, only to the poor, or not at all? Are we talking post secondary education or K-12?

Education should be privatized so the system isn't nearly as cussing bad as it is already.

Right, again define privatized.

No funding from the government, fully taken over by private businesses. However, I would assume under such a system the government would pay for certain people to be educated, kind of like food stamps for education.

Privatized as in private companies provide it. Education from K-12.

There are a lot of variables I wasn't sure how exactly you meant it.

Well the most basic problem is that the government would not be able to force people into attending school because they would have to come up with some type of payment. This would lead to a population with less overall intelligence, obviously a very bad thing.

What about families that just don't want to pay for the education?

So? What's the problem with having dumb people in a society? The government already does a terrible job with it. I'm pretty sure that competition between companies would make the result in the best education.

Then they wouldn't be forced to, which is their right from the start anyway.

Stop talking about food stamps. I'm here to argue that education should be privatized.

Am I in agreement with Kevin?!?!? This can't be true!

I don't agree with you, I am just trying to argue in favour of it to gain perspective.

Eventually you would cause a decrease in GDP do to a lack of new ideas, high unemployment rates due to high rates of individuals who can only be in the working class, and social welfare dependence. And, of course, the side effect of having a dumber society.

The government already does a terrible job with it.

Actually no, public education is poor due to a lack of funding and parents who don't care if their child gets a sub-par education.

I'm pretty sure that competition between companies would make the result in the best education.

True, I mean look at American post secondary education, it's fantastic; however, a high school degree is important in creating positive members of society and while those who attended school may be more intelligent we would have a huge number of individuals without any degree to speak of.

It shouldn't be, why exactly would I want to pay to support an individual who never attended any schooling? And why would I want to live in a country full of idiots? I wouldn't. America would lose its intellectuals and it's economic and political edge.

But you wouldn't be paying for them, because the education would be privatized.

So I see.

During the Industrial Revolution, many children didn't get an education and our economy boomed.

Actually no, public education is poor due to a lack of funding and parents who don't care if their child gets a sub-par education.

It's poor because we shouldn't waste our money on it anyway.

A high school degree doesn't get you anywhere anyway.
