There's no need to make you feel guilty to give cash... I do stuff for charity but when your out doing your shopping and they hassle you its out of order...

I am in full agreement with this, I think it's ridiculous that I'm hassled for my money. If I wanted to give it so badly I would have already, obviously asking me won't do anything.

Nice one stuntman. I doing a 440 mile bike ride for red nose day across England. Its annoying coz it feels like tele-sales. And the charities that are doing this are harming themselves because people will avoid the collectors..

I'm not exactly sure if asking for donations and explaining the cause could be considered bullying.

No - as long as they try to educate instead of use coercion, charities are perfectly legitimate.

I don't think I've never seen a charity person act as a bully, but the Salvation Army bell ringer in front of my K-Mart buys chips and soda with some of the donation money they get just about every day.

I will admit that you have to be careful when you give donations. Sometimes the people asking for donations will keep a percentage for themselves, which means it's pretty much a scam.

But like I said earlier, charity programs don't really bully you into giving them money. Well, some do *cough*government*cough*.

The simple solution is to volunteer for as many non-profit organizations as you can, then you don't have to feel guilty at all when you are &quotressured" into giving donations because you can claim that you have already done your part to support whatever mission the charity has set for itself in practicality rather than contributing in monetary value.

Also some charities may not use the money entirely in a good way and some type corruption may occur internally within the hierarchy of the organization so this is a second reason to try to refrain from donations or minimize your donations as much as possible so the management and heads of the NPO won't be able to abuse their power as much as they desire in luxurious spendings and unaccounted for "operating" expenses.

In New Orleans, Louisiana, this is proposed to be made illegal.

I guess my original quote with the word bully was a bit strong. But its bad when you get hassled and in your heart(and wallet) you have already done your bit for any worthy cause...

I rarely donate to charity anymore. The feed the children charity was basically a scam, because the founder used the money for himself. What a retard. I can't trust charity that often.

Yea charity people that do this should feel ashamed and they sometimes try to make you feel guilty so you give them money.

Am glad that most agree with my original thought. If you have a busker in the street they dont hassle you! They just play and sing. Do you use the word busker in USA?
