What is your feelings on this topic?

Should someone just print out the documents, do it by hand and then mail it to the school or should they do it all in a word doc. and the email it?

(This only applies for homework given to absent kids)

Believe it or not, there are still a lot of people who do not have computers and a lot of people who do not have the internet. Something like this could never exist.

Something like what exactly? I'll just assume you're talking about the worldwide adoption of computers as the primary medium of education in the classroom.

Well, that's a long way off.. And I believe people need to be able to handwrite properly.

Dude... it's technically imposiable to lose handwriting permennetly. Written work is a work of art as much as many other forms of such as painting and modeling.

Besides... It would save A LOT of trees

Since I do homework over the computer, I can tell you a bit how it's done, especially math-based.

It's stupid.

If schools have the features to allow students to turn in homework online, then they are just as well going to assign homework online, which is the case for me. With assigning homework online comes irregular due dates. If you do not have the software that the school uses, then you cannot effectively turn in homework. If every student were to use the school's website for turning in homework, then that causes MAJOR traffic to their server(s), causing slow download/upload speeds and frustration. If an incident were to occur, say, you lose power, your computer is broken, or you lost your data somehow, you are screwed. Federal secondary schools may be more lenient than universities, but meh.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Try math online. Do you guys know what math employs when you do homework, quizzes, and exams? Programming. That means it wants the answer EXACTLY the same as it comes up with from the program. If you have something out of place, forget to add a symbol, or, heaven forbid, add an extra space, something that an organic mind can easily and obviously understand, it will count the answer wrong. It does not matter if the entirety of the answer matches what it came up with; if you make a silly mistake, it will be a silly wrong.

Ergo, writing out your assignments and papers is so much better than via online.

Well, that's a long way off.. And I believe people need to be able to handwrite properly.

Economically and civilly true.

The problems you mentioned are mainly limitations brought about by current technology. Schools can adopt better protocols, automated programs will get better at understanding language.

Anyway, nothing beats a person... that is until AI becomes sentient and such.

You guys...

Students will be more intreged in the lesson, homework and learning experience if they can bring in skills themselves.

Learning should not be a one way experience. If children learn something from the new technology that staff could not, they could be better equipted for their future. As long as staff are open minded and students are respectful, everyone can learn from each other. If the teachers are the only ones teaching, how are they going to better know your style, passion and work ethic.

Plus, bringing tech into the time go faster, making room for better projects and activities available.

The entire school and your experience there is not only based upon the staff but also you and your students. Build trust in your class and who knows. You may even get privaliges that you never could have imagioned.

You guys...

I didn't say I was against this. I only advise against complacency. People of the future ought to know how to do things the low-tech way too. A lot of the issues the exist can be solves.

i dont understand why so many schools and teachers are against receiving homework in this way.

Not everyone has everyday access to the internet... or computers.
