I think kids under 13 shouldnt use facebook anyway.
You should explain.
Unless they have no life.
Everyone has a life, just because they sign up for a site if they're under 13 doesn't mean they have no life. Explain your idiotic post further.
it's your human right if you want to go on it, or if you don't.
You could use this same logic for pornography sites. Are parents going to let their under-aged kids use them? I'm leaning towards no. Rules are there to protect children.
I think the age limit should be 13 0r 14. Any kids under that age limit are usually still very immature. I have a 12 year old cousin who has a facebook and all he does is brag to people that he has more friends than them. So in my opinion, immature kids use facebook mainly for bragging rights. One thing that does make me laugh are those ****ty little girls who take half naked pictures and friend request random people. Thats just another reason why immature kids should not be allowed to have a facebook.
Protection keeps you away from knowledge and experiences.
There's a time in a child's life when you get a talk from your parents about the birds and the bees. So, that helps them know better about things without exposing themselves to inappropriate things.
Well, if your parents don't talk to you about that, then I would expect the child to be around 13-14 if they do look at inappropriate things.
I think age when you get to 7th. Normal people gets so many friends in new school
Why seventh grade? Also, explain to me what your definition of normal is.
I think there shouldn't be an appropriate number age, but an appropriate maturity level that the kid can exemplify. Facebook is pretty secure, and I think as long as kids show enough maturity to to add creepy don from next door, but just his/ her friends, then they should be OK. I would also monitor their facebook activity
I'm not against people under 18 watching porn. Basically any censorship is crap. It should be just a warning. Just to know what your going to see, not something you actually would need to follow.
There's a time in a child's life when you get a talk from your parents about the birds and the bees. So, that helps them know better about things without exposing themselves to inappropriate things.
True, but it's not necessary. If a child can think for himself, then he doesn't need that talk. Then again, not every child can do that.
Normal people gets so many friends in new school
Guess I'm not "normal" to you. Or your definition of "many" is different then mine.
I would say 13, after all when you get around that age you should realise the does and don'ts of the internet. either way, people will still lie about thier age. i mean there are probably a large amount of people who lied about thier age on this website
7th grade is where the majority of the student population turns 13. 13 is the current requirement of being on the internet independently. 13 is the age, in the USA to be anywhere on the Internet, until you cross over into areas that have further federal regulations (e.g. having to be 18+ to be able to access mature areas).
I don't have much of a stance on this issue right now, but I am going to say that the age limit for Facebook should be the same as other areas of the internet in comparison. Facebook is a fruit basket of information that can and can't be suitable for certain ages, so you have to take Facebook and compare it to other pages of the internet. One moment, it is simple chatting about life and 'how are you doing?', while another moment, you delve into more *hush hush* situations. In terms of safety, Facebook should still be at the 13 age level, to be accessing it independently. People do mature with age, but that is relative as a whole. Facebook users can set their privacy to only have their pages viewed by friends, but that security wall can be breached by a mere "requesting friendship". People have to learn to use judgement on trifling websites such as this, and 13 is the ripe age to do that.
