@wolf1991 Inheritance is awesome because it is THE BEST literature. And I've read lots of literature, and Inheritance is the best!

@wolf I've enjoyed it because I like it and I enjoy the plot, even if so far it has been very much Star Wars-like. I know that there are a lot of better books, *cough*Lord of the Rings*cough* but it is still good. Also, I like the characters, though Eragon can be whiny.

Not an acceptable answer. I refuse to merit something because you claim it is the best. You must explain to me why you think this and then prove it. As I did with my lengthy review of Paolini and Brisingr. No, I do not expect something as long winded, but reasonably thought out would be nice.

Why do you enjoy the plot and the characters? And yes Tolkien, though he never thought so, is perhaps one of the best epic fantasy writers of our time. Tolkien was a very harsh critic of his own work.

Out of curiosity (though I doubt someone will) could someone explain why they enjoyed the entire Inheritance Cycle until this point.

I enjoy how Paolini made 2 completely new languages, Dwarfish and the Ancient Language. I mean, how many of you can you have done that?

For example:
Brisingr=Fire
Adurna=Water

He also creates suspense. He introduces the Rock of Kuthain and the Vault of Souls in the first book, and leaves readers begging for more.

Paolini drew the entire map of Alagaësia. Who here has thought of and drawn a map this detailed? http://img355.imageshack.us/img355/6788/alagaesia0pq.jpg

Those are the reasons this is an amazing series in my opinion.

Technically, J.R.R. Tolkien made rather a lot of maps for almost every book he wrote, and invented a language.

Well, I have for one. I simply lack a scanner and adequate drawing ability to show you my two maps. They're drawn in detail, however, they're messy because I am a terrible artist.

I give him credit for inventing a language. Personally I detest dabling in the intricate details of creating a language, it just gets...messy. However, language and a map do not excuse weak characters and substandard plot. As I have stated before he wrote Eragon when he was fifteen. And yet, he is now twenty five and has matured very little, if at all, in his writing.

I don't really see how you can say it is immature. What is your definition of immature writing?

I wasn't saying he writing is immature per se. As you write more, and get older, your writing style changes, or should. Look at Rowling. As Harry Potter continued the books became more mature and sophisticated. The same should be shown in the Inheritence Cycle. Time is passing, Eragon is becoming more mature, likewise, the writing and actions of the characters should reflect this. Yet, they do not. They remain very static and in this form of stasis Paolini loses credit as a writer because he, through his writing, has shown little growth and ability to change. Unlike Harry Potter the Inheritance Cycle is likely to die off shortly after it's conclusion because of this.

So is knight. How have you not noticed his zombieness?
I hope knight doesn't read these comments.

*sighs* can we not have a serious, intelligent discussion? Why must there always be someone being a smartass?

Sorry.
Anyway, I like the series for the reasons I have stated before, but also because I find the background history interesting, and there are still a lot of loose ends, which I think someone has already mentioned, but I'm not going to bother to check. If I don't read the last boo, I'm going to be tortured with no knowing what the Rock of Kuthian is.

I mentioned the loose ends. And frankly, there's a lot to accomplish and I suspect many readers will be displeased with his conclusions.
