I grew up atheist for 16 years. I had always kept an open mind towards religion, but never really felt a need to believe in it. My sister started going to a Wednesday night children's program at a church. Eventually, I was dragged into a Christmas Eve service. Scoffing, I reluctantly went, assuming that this was going to be a load of crap, but when I went, I felt something. Something that I've never felt before. I felt a sense of empowerment and a sense of calling. Jesus called upon my soul, just like he did with his disciples. he wanted me to follow him. Now, my life is being lived for Christ. He died on the cross for my sins, and the sins of everyone who believes in him. He was beaten, brutalized, struck with a whip 39 times, made to carry a cross up to the stage of his death. This I believe to be true, and I can never repay him for what he has done.
I still have my struggles with Christianity, but I've found this bit of information most useful. Religion is not comprehensible in the human mind, because we cannot comprehend the idea of a perfect and supreme being, a God, but we can believe it in our heart, and that's the idea of faith. Faith is, even though everything rides against me believing in Jesus, I still believe in him because I know that it's true in my heart. I invite my fellow Brothers and sisters of the LORD to talk about how Jesus has helped you in your life. No atheists and no insults please

Should this just be sticked? There's a lot of redirection. But no one is actually using it....

Hmm, I guess so. It is a very long post, however.

^Troll.
Anyways if pure ignorance has a chance of changing it wouldn't be surprising if it took a whole year to change people's opinion. I'm not saying we want to but when every Christian that tells me that I'm going to hell just because I don't believe in their God shouldn't be a reason for me to go to forever torture.
Hmm, this seems to be a reply to a deleted post, right? Anyway, to the last part of your post, why do you think so?

yep, this topic ran out of steam, yet mods keep closing any topics that attempt to revive the matter. Perhaps a healthy bump would do something good to this?

I had a thread before that was closed so I could ask it here instead. And....

How does religion affect your life? Daily, weekly, in general.

How does religion affect your life? Daily, weekly, in general.
Hi, first
Daily - well, I have less time to get myself attracted to something that can harm me if abused. Instead I pray or think about God, which generally makes me calmer.
Weekly - about the same, adding increased patience to sustain whatever demands the job gives me, including enraged clients, and a bit of ancient and contemporary culture in general.
In general - well I do believe that there is life after death, and that a person will carry his deeds over death. Also I believe that doing good helps others to feel better and refrain from doing bad, both to me and to their respective neighbors, so I think I'm helping many people if I help one. This also makes my entire life full of sense and desire to live. This makes me optimistic in a certain way, say I am waiting for an impending DOOM with a smile, and I am living in my current environment that has DOOM in itself with a calmness that nothing too complicated will be thrown at me, and whatever stuff that will hit me will be survivable.

Not gonna lie, that's pretty offensive to Jews

Um... pretty much everyone sins almost every day. It's not offensive, because it's a statement that applies to everyone.

NOT THIS THREAD AGAIN AAAHHHHH!!! Haha it's the longest going thread that died like a day ago and is back! Anyways let's get to business..

This is what I get from this...
Jews kill lambs.
Jesus was the perfect lamb.
Therefore...
If Jews kill lambs then Jews killed Jesus.
Which is pretty bad for blaming the whole Jewish culture who has been under harsh scrutiny for the last 2000 years.

Yeah, what's with all the hating on Judiasm believers?
No seriously. Christianity has negative stereotypes because it has a bad rap in the world of things. Same thing with polotical views and other things. For example, Fascism could be in many countries today if it weren't for WW2. It doesn't matter what your polocies are, hell, we could have a polotical view proposing a perfect utopia, but each time it was implemented, bad things happened to said country who had polotical view. Otherwise, there could be a polotical view that supported tyrants. But, whatever country supported this polotical view had a good run when the polotical view ruled the country. Back to subject, while the Bible itself is OK, people maybe misinterpreted the bible and used it for their own beliefs. Then that morphed into the stereotype we see today.
I don't believe in god, but Religeon is a lot like polotics. The most extreme level of Religeon is war. As is polotics. More similarities than you think.

I think thatall atheists are dumb *** trolls making lam jokes about "religion", but they only seem to attack christianity.
I know people who used to be terrible atheists (Insulting God, etc)and go into christianity.

For all you christians reading this, don't discuss with an dumb *** atheist trying to cause drama ie: "I felt something but it was gas"; "The best way to ignore drama is to not be on it"

God allows people to be born into this world without any choice on determining their current situation of birth or genetics (disabilities, third world countries, etc.)He also issued a set of commandments which, if any person decided to take an opinion on them, they would consider them cruel and stupid. Examples? In the ten commandments (wherein the 4 most important are the first four,) are specifically about remaining loyal to god. The other commandments are obviously good ones, but they are not original (the same values dictated by Buddhism, which preceded Christianity by about 500 years.) The stupidity and cruelty is shown through the stoning of heretics, adulterous women, and children who disobeyed their parents, all in Godâs name. Iâm pretty sure itâs cruel to stone your child if he disobeys you. This leads onto my next point.
Hitler and Stalin could be considered evil-that is, they killed a finite amount of people. By condemning a single person to hell, God commits more evil than every single person combined, throughout history. After counting up the millions of deaths that dictators such as Hitler have caused, that number is still a finite number, whereas the tortures of hell for any single person are completely endless (infinite).
Jesusâs sacrifice was completely absurd. God killed himself on the cross to save his creation from his own wrath? Sounds pretty ridiculous to me.
