I grew up atheist for 16 years. I had always kept an open mind towards religion, but never really felt a need to believe in it. My sister started going to a Wednesday night children's program at a church. Eventually, I was dragged into a Christmas Eve service. Scoffing, I reluctantly went, assuming that this was going to be a load of crap, but when I went, I felt something. Something that I've never felt before. I felt a sense of empowerment and a sense of calling. Jesus called upon my soul, just like he did with his disciples. he wanted me to follow him. Now, my life is being lived for Christ. He died on the cross for my sins, and the sins of everyone who believes in him. He was beaten, brutalized, struck with a whip 39 times, made to carry a cross up to the stage of his death. This I believe to be true, and I can never repay him for what he has done. I still have my struggles with Christianity, but I've found this bit of information most useful. Religion is not comprehensible in the human mind, because we cannot comprehend the idea of a perfect and supreme being, a God, but we can believe it in our heart, and that's the idea of faith. Faith is, even though everything rides against me believing in Jesus, I still believe in him because I know that it's true in my heart. I invite my fellow Brothers and sisters of the LORD to talk about how Jesus has helped you in your life. No atheists and no insults please

That video Mage posted is pretty tasty, though he should also include a segment at the end of what science has (positively) contributed to the world in a month. A nice comparison.
The discovery of water and organic material in craters on Mercury
(that video is about mars curiosity... ?) any if there was life on mercury then our solar system is older then we think. but it's in a crater, my guess is that the water came there the same way as earth got it.
Also don't see how that would have to mean the solar system is older.
mercury would need to have been in the habitable zone of the sun for that. and the smaller a sun is the slower it expends and moves it's habitable zone. i dont know the exact numbers. but i'm nearly sure this would mean a older sun. because our sun was never been that small.
mercury would need to have been in the habitable zone of the sun for that.
The habitable zone is just an area where liquid water can exist on the planets surface. Since Mercury is tidal locked with the sun it is possible for small pockets of liquid water to exist as you move from the side that faces the sun to the side that is away. What we currently see is water ice on the dark side that faces away from the sun.
so its just some extremophiles? what els could take a shift of heat and cold fast enough. and would this mean that there are clouds on the light side? at 430 degree it is a gas.
Even early life on this planet would have been surviving in very harsh conditions.
not sure they could handle a change of heat over 600 degree in a matter of secondes.
It would probably be to hot for even that.
but if it's to hot for water to be steam. then what is it? and what makes this "further then steam" thingy stay on the planet that it will freeze again on the dark side? there is no ozon layer and the gravity of mercury is very low compared to us and that of the sun.
At any rate maybe we should swing this back around to being on topic.
i dont think Theism got any knowlets of the universe beside shapes and star formations observed some thousand years ago. so i dunno how to swing this back to on-topic.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then He is not omnipotent. Is He able, but not willing? Then He is malevolent. Is He both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is He neither able nor willing? Then why call Him God?
