I grew up atheist for 16 years. I had always kept an open mind towards religion, but never really felt a need to believe in it. My sister started going to a Wednesday night children's program at a church. Eventually, I was dragged into a Christmas Eve service. Scoffing, I reluctantly went, assuming that this was going to be a load of crap, but when I went, I felt something. Something that I've never felt before. I felt a sense of empowerment and a sense of calling. Jesus called upon my soul, just like he did with his disciples. he wanted me to follow him. Now, my life is being lived for Christ. He died on the cross for my sins, and the sins of everyone who believes in him. He was beaten, brutalized, struck with a whip 39 times, made to carry a cross up to the stage of his death. This I believe to be true, and I can never repay him for what he has done.
I still have my struggles with Christianity, but I've found this bit of information most useful. Religion is not comprehensible in the human mind, because we cannot comprehend the idea of a perfect and supreme being, a God, but we can believe it in our heart, and that's the idea of faith. Faith is, even though everything rides against me believing in Jesus, I still believe in him because I know that it's true in my heart. I invite my fellow Brothers and sisters of the LORD to talk about how Jesus has helped you in your life. No atheists and no insults please

Titus 3:3-7
At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
also, one of my favorite verses

the reason abistence works is because you aren't having sex. Like the only way not to get into a car accident is never drive/ride in a car.

And all those letters do not in fact make those assumptions like you do, nor does gender matter, with the exception of female on female, for it is impossible for AIDS to be trasmitted sexually through lesbian intercourse.

And since you agree that sex in a marriage is a good thing, then you won't be opposed to gay marriage then, right?

As for losing my faith, it was three fold

First, I read the bible during church and was amazed at what a ****ed up book it was, ****, genocide, etc.

Next, while in my high school, I realized there was no god, this was backed up as I got further into the field of science, since A. Science is cooler and B. Science explains why god isn't needed.

The clincher was the acceptance that I was gay.

It says in the bible that Marrige is to be Between a Man and a Woman, the bible also speaks out against homosexual people. After what you (E1337) said against the bible

i hope and pray that you will someday repent, because if you don't, you will end up in the lake of fire. Oh and something else, the book of revelations says that when Jesus returns, every mouth will confess that Jesus is the son of God. I am not trying to change your mind, your entitled to your own opinion.

But what good reason is there given for exclusively heterosexual marriages?

... ... ... Uh ... ... ... What?

One's a positive assertion the other is not. It's like the difference between saying "I think there is a God" and "I know there is a God".

So... you're saying that atheism is a more general term than you once thought?

Yes, that would be correct.

1 John 3:3
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears,[a]we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure.

1 Peter 1:21
Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.

1 Thessalonians 5:8
But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.

Colossians 1:3-5
We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saintsâ" the faith and love that spring from the hope that is stored up for you in heaven and that you have already heard about in the word of truth, the gospel

Jeremiah 17:7
"But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.

Psalms 33:18
But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,

Psalms 9:18
But the needy will not always be forgotten, nor the hope of the afflicted ever perish.

Christ is not just a religion. ITs about having a strong relationship with God. Islam teaches that you have to earn heaven, the Lords love and grace. But you don't. God's grace, love and His kingdom is open to those who seek him.

Spamming was that post. Almost as bad as spamming is the n00b pointing out the spam.

Now in an attempt to recover my post, it also says that you can not marry if you are not a virgin (Well you can marry, you will just get stoned), that you can **** a virgin girl and then you will be married, and that *******s are not aloud into churches.

I didn't say women, though I was unaware of that fact, what I said was fatherless children, which happens to be a derogatory term used in modern language.
