I know that this is very ironic because I'm asking this on the Internet, but does too much of the Internet cause depression? I, personally say yes. Yesterday, I had nothing to do so I spend most of the day on the Internet and at the end of the day I felt pretty down. Nothing a good hamburger and milkshake couldn't fix! And I'm not the only one too say so according to a study, 1,2% of people surveyed were "Internet addicts" and most of them were depressed
Most internet addicts have a lack of sunlight and exercise. Both of which can cause depression. Being out of the sun also wrecks your sleep pattern which causes drowsiness. Drowsiness leads to a general lack of exercse because they lack the energy to 'do stuff'. It's all connected. I didn't click the link by the way, did any of this sync up?

Nope nort realy but they do say something about these people neglecting things like communication with people face to face and exercise wich affects their wellbeing. You should check the link. Interesting stuff.
[quote]I spent 15 hours of one day on the computer once and I felt fine.[quote/]
Once I spent 18 hours on the computer. It was a mixture of AG,CountingTime,TDP4,making a flash game, making a website, and FailBlog. It was fun.
What I meant by too much of the Internet and computer caused depression, I meant in the long run not just for a day or two, I mean for day's and day's and maybe even month of doing nothing and just going on the Internet and doing nothing more.
I spend loads of time on the Internet every day, and have been doing so for, like, 8 years or so, and I'm never depressed. I'm usually tired and very lazy, but never depressed. I'm a very happy person.
I guess one reason why it could lead to depression is social networks; many people only post the positive stuff on their pages, show only the great things, and you more and more get the impression that you are one of the few stupid guys with an uneventful life.
If the internet is what makes your depressed, then I don't think you should be allowed to interact with society, for fear of you having an anxiety attack or something.
I think a few people that are already depressed could become internet addicts, yes. But the internet doesn't cause it.
