Emery has a couple of good songs, but in my opinion they have at least as many bad songs as well. This is just my opinion, though.
Personally, my favourite band is a band called Machinae Supremacy. They call their style "SID Metal", which sounds a bit like old video game music combined with metal. I'll give you a few examples.

If for some reason I am sadly mistaken, two of my favorite bands are The Temper Trap and Anberlin. Two nice bands, and I don't really feel like listing any metalcore bands.

This stays open because of the qualifier that the band must still be together (and presumably active), which takes out a number of the more prominent alternative rock and nu-metal outfits.
I'm going to submit a nomination on the basis of consistency, and as such it'll be Radiohead. Across their eight albums, they fill the rock-electronica spectrum like no other band. And it seems theirs is the kind of stuff that initially has you dumbfounded... but grows until it becomes your world and everything just makes sense. At first, The King of Limbs was too short, but now, it's exactly what was needed, nothing more, nothing less.
I have a lot of bands, but my main two idols are not the Beatles and Bob Marley, but Queen and Police. I'm right now learning Bohemian Rhapsody on the piano. If I stop piano, I will start playing the drums and learn a Police song.
