Yep. Another insane Christian destroyed the artwork. This time it was "Piss Christ"

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/de/Piss_Christ_by_Serrano_Andres_%281987%29.jpg

Depicting a cross in a glass of the painter's urine. If you are wondering what the "Another" was for, I am referring the the Loveland (I think that was the place) place which had it's artwork showing Jesus in a bad light, receiving a blowjob if I remember correctly. Though from what I hear, this one is still going to be shown. In it's destroyed state.

What do you think of this attack? Insane borderline terrorist attack? Insane normal attack? Or are any of you insane enough to state these attacks where good things?

there has to be humour to lighten things up.

I always like softening a heated debate.
Or making sure it doesn't get heated in the first place
I don't like things spilling out because once it does you can't get it going on track again usually.

I don't understand why people keep painting things to piss them off. Though still, they have no right to destroy it. Even if it was against their religion (like it is to draw Muhammad with islam), the people who paint these aren't part of their religion so don't have to follow their rules.

I belive painting that was wrong. But it was also wrong to burn it. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Because it's my right to. I have the human right to speak my mind and will not live in fear due to it. I do not believe as they do, so I will not follow their rules.

You don't have to follow their rules but why does that mean you have to slap them across the face. Has there ever been a time in your life where a religious person came up to you and told you to follow their rules? Then i could see you saying no I don't believe in your God. But if you just do something to anger them for little to no reason, why do you feel the need to do that?

My computer isn't showing your picture (I'm going to assume its irrelevant anyways)

If you research this and find the artist had a legitimate reason for painting this than I'll consider this a "turnabout" but for now Google wont give me answers.

How am I supposed to post on this forum when people think a statue of Christ engulfed in piss is good?

I live near a church also but there are very few christians near me, mostly over populated with jews who only seem to judge other jews.

It's alright and I do occasionally visit a unitarian church if I feel the need to be "churchy"

Fundamental Christians, fundamental religious people in general, often try to make others live by their rules or decry those who don't as being evil and wrong.

On a separate note - I see nothing wrong with a statue of The jeebmeister (Y'know? The big J-man!) covered in piss. I'm sure it's what he would have wanted.

Honestly I look at the intentional destruction of something, especially when it contradicts your beliefs, as nothing more than a childish attempt at censorship. "ooh, we don't like that so we're going to destroy it so no one will be swayed by it." Seriously, if your faith is so weak that you have destroy things which you perceive to be in opposition to it then you might want to reevaluate your position.

I've had that happen quite a number of times both directly and indirectly.

Personally, I have mostly been effected indirectly. I rarely leave my home, and when I do it is usually for necessary things like work or school. But the effect of people's religions attempting to be forced on the rest of the world, which includes myself, can easily be seen in acts of violence like this, laws like Prop 8 or abortion laws, and threw forums like the one we are using at this moment.
