Whatever you call it, USA lost it bigtime. Without thinking about the defeat's affects on the Cold War, almost every country in modern times bit by USA had grown into a better place then it was before. Its just that modernizing other countries is in USA's interests because it helps keep anti democratic people away. The main examples are Japan and Germany.
