You're treating gays like their own seperate race. Get out of that mindset, it's wrong.
Group of people =/= seperate race. I never said they were a race.
They did. Why do you think they have a support group?
What I am saying is that the counselors already there should be able to handle it. If they can't, get rid of them and get new ones. Don't just keep hiring new counselors for each new problem that comes along. They should require more money to deal with their specific problem.
They need funding because of homophobic people who harass them.
For what? That is what I have been asking the whole time. I have been harassed and I don't ask for additional funding for counselors catered to my needs.
I support gay rights. They should be allowed to marry and anything else they want to do that everyone else can do. I just don't think that spending extra money for these programs is necessary. But if I see something that justifies the extra spending, then I may change my mind. That is why I am asking what they need the funding for.

How often are you harassed by people who think your whole existence is a one way ticket to hell, and have no problems telling you that?
Many universities have places for students to go where they can meet up that don't cost money (meeting rooms, lobbies, etc.).
Those places are not secure. Anyone can come in and start tearing them down.

We keep telling you. They need help, they need support. Think of it like Kids Help Phone if you need to.

If someone is going to go that far out of their way to tell someone they hate them, then they will just sit outside of wherever they are meeting and ridicule them before and after. And what is going to stop them from going into a meeting place even if it is paid for?

And I keep saying that for that issue, the counselors that the school already has should be enough (or possibly add another counselor if necessary as I said earlier).
yes but you never had to tell your parents and pastor you are black, now have you?
Nope. I am not saying that this would be easy or that we have the same plight. In fact, I believe that would be very difficult. I apologize if I made it seem that I know that pain. I took it more as a question of whether I have felt intense hatred.
I still contend that the school's counselors should be able to handle the support necessary for such situations.
Unless the school counselor is gay, I highly doubt they know how to counsel someone about dating. What do I mean? I mean that, simply asking another guy out puts a gay guy at risk for a hate crime if he makes the mistake of asking out the homophobe. What I mean is, how do you counsel another into coming out to your parents and risk being disowned? What I mean is, how do you counsel someone when they figure out that, due to the current laws, they can not marry the person they love?
There are many different situations that many counselors haven't gone through but are still licensed to deal with.
yes but unlike most, some of these can cause the person to end up killed, especially since this is texas we are discussing.
Depression thoughts of suicide can end in death when handled poorly. This is a major role that counselors have taken on even though many most likely have not been suicidal.
It would be like demanding a white pride group get equal funding, not for white pride but only so the local NAACP chapter is defunded.
