What the hell is an "alternative sexuality"? Are they trying to be so politically correct that they are just showing that they are prejudiced towards homosexuality? Or am I missing something here?
Representative Wayne Christian, a Republican, proposed the amendment, which would apply to any public colleges with a center "for students focused on gay, lesbian, homosexual, bisexual, pansexual, transsexual, transgender, gender questioning, or other gender identity issues."
I am very appalled. Christ, is being homosexual so hard to take in for these people? I tried very hard to keep reading, but I only got to the part with the quote:
"Imagine the plight of the heterosexual student stepping on to a college campus for the first time. How will he fit in? Should he tell his new roommate about his alternative hetero lifestyle? Will he be bullied, just like he was in high school, where he was mercilessly teased for being a sexual deviant? Where does a straight person turn?"
But the most appalling of all the entire article was the Texas House itself:
The House vote in favor of the amendment on the campus sexuality centers was 110-24
I officially cannot believe anything that the Texas Legislation manifests out of their heavily-biased minds.
And we allowed Texas to distribute public schools' elementary and secondary textbooks instead of California, the former holder?
Just like the astonishingly ridiculous belief that the white man is the new oppressed minority, conservatives have gifted the world with another sorry belief to laugh at; poor hetero people are now going to join the underprivileged minority list, according to the conservatives.
I'm not too experienced with politics or current events, so i must ask; are they actually serious? Are you all sure this isn't part of some giant prank reality show in which conservatives are competing to see who can best fit the "anyone that isn't a straight white christian"-o-phobic stereotype? They can't really be serious... can they?
Oh Freakenstein you picked up the same quote i was about to put.

I seriously doubt that hetero people are getting bullied. I seriously doubt it.
But one of the people that was smart and posted a good point was Lowell Kane. And he basically answered that BS of heteros being bullied.
It is very sad that people (and by people, i mean idiots) spend their time passing by does laws, when all this energy could go into the cutting of the military budget and the introduction of universal health care.
Anyone else think it's a coincidence that the guy proposing this is named Wayne Christian? Just thought i'd throw that out there lols.
As for the rest of it, yeah, might as well fund support for how to breathe. No heterosexual people get bullied. Same for white people. I have "never" been bullied for being white, nor heard of it even happening.

Wayne Christian? More like whiny Christian! Zing!
Anyways, yeah, that's just dumb. What is the center to promote "traditional values" going to do anyway? I can't honestly think of a single thing that this center could do that would be useful in any way.

I only skimmed the article(it was painful to read), but it looked like they didn't actually want the center to be created. They wanted the other center to lose funding.

Exactly. They went about it wrong by including the poor hetero guy story but I see the major issue not being homophobia. They simply don't want the state paying for support groups for select individuals while the general public is not receiving the same benefits.
Same for white people. I have "never" been bullied for being white, nor heard of it even happening.
It all depends where you grow up. I've seen it plenty.
Ya I had a problem with that one haha. I get called dumb white boy, Cracker and I have been jumped/bullied for being white. So that is a pretty false statement lol. But he said "never" so I don't know what he means with the quotes.
Bah, let Texas be Texas. except for joining the Confederacy in the Civil War, they've been alright. Let the states pass their own laws. worse comes to worse, just move out of the state!
It doesn't make ant sense. Why would you tell gay and lesbian students that they have to teach kids traditional values? Were they thinking when they made this bill? It's not terrible, because the hate this bill is showing is rather minor compared to other states. But it just doesn't make sense.

So your solution is: **** human rights.
If I could I'd beat the idiots who passed this with a large hammer.
