This is freaky. Thanks Australia.

Apparently watching too much TV makes the arteries in the backs of the eyes smaller, in children aging from 6-7. This increases their risk of heart related illness and Diabetes.

How does this relate to Diabetes? It sounds like bull crap... Everyone knows that diabetes strictly deals with the pancreas and the pancreas only.

Although I do believe that this sounds like crap, diabetes most often is a problem with the insulin receptors not just the pancreas.

My mom always said "Life's dangerous, you could die". Really, that's the best way to put this. If you're going to avoid anything that has even the slightest risk of being dangerous, we'd all have to sit in padded rooms and stare at the wall. Or wait, if watching TV can make the arteries in the back become smaller, then shouldn't that apply to all sources of light? Just to be safe, we should sit in padded rooms, in complete darkness.

Seriously, the only thing I can say about this is bull****.

Didn't you hear? Being inactive for more than 5 minutes at a time increases your risk for heart disease as well. ...
...
... Really, you could look at anything and find some medical study that comes up with doing that activity for too long/not enough will lead to some serious disease.

Right, and masturbation can stop you getting prostate cancer (according to Cracked.com).

Therefore, we do both at the same time and keep our chances of dieing even, correct?

Or sleeping more could reduce our chance of suicide.
Shall we do all of them at the same time? We can do that creepy stuff pedophiles do, asphyxiation + TV so we dose off and never think about trying that again.

Wait... something goes wrong here.

I can see why, lol. But hey, I'm not taking too much into these topics since it seems fairly rediculous and that is agreed by, is it everyone in this thread?

Yep, just checked, everyone.

"Life's dangerous, you could die".

Not bad of a quote, but I would of said:

"life's dangerous, you will die."

Oh wow really? I thought that australian congressman who called out video games and limits their accesability to the Australian markets said that films were wonderful. So where do we lie australia?

Besides that, a million of these surveys and tests come out every year, people who support this kind of convoluted cause just find teh most legit-looking one and latch onto it.

You know how TV raises chances for a heart disease? By making kids move less and have a less trained heart, maybe even get them fatter and everyone knows what too much fat does to the heart and blood vessels. The chances probably raise depending on the kids metabolism, and the effect can be reduced by movements outside from the TV hours.
Don't have to think any further than that.

because you get no exercise while watching it most probably. I'd bet that if you watched it while exercising you'd be fine.

It was directed to TV, they didn't say it about Computers, not Console games, nor DS's, nor card games, etc.

This bares the same reply, I think.

Your point being...?

One of those things the media does. I don't know what their agenda is but hey, my point is they mentioned it for a reason.
