hes deffinatly good, but no where NEAR close to the best. i could make an amass list of drummers who are better then him.

my favorites are probably, in no particular order, billy cobham, thomas pridgen, brann dailer, mike portnoy, chris tsigakas, shannon ledo, neil pert, jon karel, carl palmer, mike giles, and many more. i love my drums

I'm going to have to go with Vinnie Paul who got his start with Pantera, and after they disbanded he went to go on to form Hellyeah. If you want an example of one of his songs click here. It's not his best but probably his most popular.

I think that a couple of the best drummers that I have heard of are Duncan Philips, the Newsboys drummer, and John Bonham, from Led Zepplin.

I used to think the drummer from Yellowcard (Longineu Parsons I believe his name is?) was the best drummer ever. That was, of course, before I found about metalcore.

I have respect for many metalcore drummers, for how fast they need to drum and whatnot.

Take the drummer of As I Lay Dying, and listen to Confined by them. I definitely could not play those drums.

Yellowcard's drummer is still pretty good, though. :P

Actually, I just discovered singer/songwriter/guitarist for the Foo Fighters David Grhol (SP?) had been deemed the name "Best drummer" from some group when he was with Nirvana. Yes, he used to be a drummer.

Buddy Rich, Neil Peart, and Carter Beauford. The masters of fundamentals, creativity, and syncopation.

It's like he's not even human. He just makes it all look so effortless.

Sean Reinert deserves mention somewhere in Delos' list, maybe at number 11 or something, lol. Drummer for Cynic - one of my favorite bands - and a lot of the drum lines he pulls off are very creative metal/jazz amalgamations and are technically and musically impressive. He's done work with Cynic, Aghora, Aeon Spoke, Gordian Knot, and Death among other bands. Jeremiah Green is also of mention for musicality, though technical skill doesn't seem to be at the level of errybody else. Very creative, though.

I just wanna throw this out there. The beginning is so technical it's crazy.

As for best drummers, my favorites are Chad Smith, Dave Lombardo, Travis Smith, John Bonham, and of course Neil Peart. I also like Mike Portnoy after FINALLY listening to Dream Theater, and I have respect for Lars Ulrich, who was one of my favorites from a few years back.
