I am starting a new debate with this question. Does America's society still have standards? I say we do as we do our best to keep our country and people safe from subjection to things, but what about what kids are playing? What about these bloody, gorey, bone-cracking, skull flying video games we play? Should that be something we should allow to be played? I don't think they should be banned but maybe cut down on the gore and blood. As for the clothes some people wear, I don't want to believe for even a second that SOMEONE out there hasn't been offended by another being's clothes. SUPER short shorts, skimpy clothes, guys' boxers hanging out. I want to hear other's opinions though and questions and answers. Is America's standards as good as they once were?

Everyone probably has violence underneath psychological barriers. It's just more prevalent in some people more than others.

You can only trigger something if there are charges to begin with. (If you get my metaphor)

Which is what I said... 'Previously undiscovered' triggers in the brain.

Sorry about double posting. Slight glitch with my computer. I agree that everyone has some violence in them selves, but that doesnt mean we have to uncover it.

I think with some people, they don't choose to uncover, but they may make decisions to uncover that violence. The problem with people today is that we have shortened attention spans, which leads to increased anger.

Oh, and about video games, they help improve the dexterity and fine motor skills that are required in an unindustrialized service sector based jobs. using computers, fine tools, working machinery from afar, etc.

Video games aren't bad at all, but it depends like if it's an AO game. But bloody games can help you with surgery, games can help your timing and thinking. They also can speed up your reflexes. Video Games probably don't have anything to do with the "low standards."

Lets take a little trip to times that you have never been to. Lets say the founding of America. We wore a ton of uncomfortable mostly useless pieces of clothing, ate what we could get, and felt it was good if we just got up another day. Kids, rather than playing video games, would go out and kill real things. Real blood, real guts, though typically it wasn't human. And that was pretty much the norm, from my understanding.

So how is that any better than our cozy society where most close at least have some functional value, such as the commonly worn "Jeans", where much of the violence is fake, and where we can know we are going to live another day?

Kids may of gone out and killed things but that would be for food. Times were tougher and the standards bar was almost unreachable back then because they had to work hard just to LIVE! Today, the bar is so low, that just by making a bed, a kid is glorified for the next two days! How sad is that!? What will become of us if we don't resserect some of our older standards such as protecting the weak and following the rules of chivalry?

I agree with MalKeshar we are all spoiled and the next generation would be even worse.
