A few thousand more. The Taliban contains a few thousand more members. Kill them all, and no one will care about the ideology.
Bull, this is an ideology powered by religious antifundamentalist coupled with anti-American and anti-West sentiments; this will always exist and only education and knowledge can decrease the numbers of extremists in a permanent fashion. We wasted money and men to find a man who has been nothing but a figure head for years.
Even thought he blew up two of the biggest buildings in america, I think instead of killing him, we should have let him live in prison.
...It took us several years just to find the guy, and then we apparently killed him with missile strikes. I don't have the news yet, but how could they have arrested him? Where would he be held? Why not kill him?
Still. We should just put him in the hole with 24 hour watch with guards armed with uzis.
....Why Uzis? What country would have him? He isn't American, so we can' hold him in America. We can't hold him in the middle east, or he would probably be in danger of being freed. What country would we stick him in?
And, besides that, we missile striked them. (Which seems to be how we have been getting most people recently) probably without knowing who it was. So we just blew up our enemy, who we saw.
I'm sorry but the fact that we as a nation are still obsessed over this shows a piss poor ability to move on.
Why does Viet'Nam come to mind?
Now to address mostly everyone, but Samy.
So what, he's dead. Good for you Americans you spent ten years, billions of dollars, and who knows how many lives to kill a figure head. Now what? The war is still going on, the idea is still out there. And it will keep coming back.
You cannot kill an idea. Ideas do not simply die, they're a virus. And they can be deadly when mixed with the wrong elements of the human psyche. They lead to obsessive fanaticsm. You will NEVER win this war. You're not fighting a people, a nation. You're fighting human nature. Good job America, you've accomplished nothing. Just like Viet'Nam.
