Okay we've all celebrated the demise of a huge idiot, but now the thing that has me worried is the aftermath. I would bet any amount of money that Al Qaeda and affiliates are going to do something for revenge. The question is what. The war is on the downslope now, (imo.) but it's far from over, and I'm sure there will be another leader of the Al Qaeda group coming up soon. What does the AG universe think?

they willl most likey use the taliban to step up the war effort, im skeptical as to whether Al Queida will actually do anything, and the next figurehead (as thats all Bin Laden was) would hav been his son but he was also killed yesterday, but as i said he had no real power so there will be no real power shift

I heard the al qaeda had a nuclear bomb which they would detonate if osama died but I think that was a conspiracy theory. I hope so anyway. I think another al qaeda will take control and the group will get back to normal soon. Although hopefully weakened. it is too much to hope that it will be disbanded.

I don't believe anything will change in a positive way. The only thing thats going to change is leadership.. Sad, but true.

I think we shouldn't have killed Osama. He should have been interrogated him about Al Qaeda, so that this organization could be destroyed faster and without more damage and death. When Al Qaeda's destroyed then and only then he should have been executed. But that's my opinion.
My guess is that a new leader thirsty for revenge will make this "war on terror" much more bloodier than it should be when al Quaeda's up and running again. But again that's my opinion.

I agree with deathopper we shouldnt't have killed Osama because thats just going to get the Al Quaeda angry and they might do something to our president or try and do something terrible to our country.

they could either kill him or leave him, he will die for his beliefs there was no way to capture him and even if they had they wouldnt have got anything outvof him,

@qwerty i dont know where you heard this but its crap its literally complete rubbish, and as people keep saying with no one listening OSAMA WAS NOT THEIR LEADER HE WAS A FIGURE HEAD! HE HAD NO REAL POWER! THIS WILL CHANGE NOTHING!

Eh the only thing we really could have done with Osama is kill him. If we captured him he would sit in a cell for his entire life I'm sure. Osama and his followers will die for what they believe in to the point of suicide bombings, I highly doubt Osama would have given us any credible intel. If anything, his death is a massive moral booster for the United States & Allies.

You are exactly right. The person replacing bin Laden will be just as evil (or maybe even more evil) than bin Laden himself. The death of Osama bin Laden was only for morale; it has no ethical effect whatsoever.

@ZipperedVenus I could not agree with you more. I hate when the media does this and takes attention off of critical issues

I'm not even completely sure he is dead, or that he managed to avoid getting caught for all this time. Plus, his death is a bit too... convenient. But let's assume Al Qaeda only recently lost its leader in that blitz.

If this was the case, then Al Qaeda cannot be made by complete fools. They must know what they are doing if they accomplished all this, and thus, they will wait. They will hide, re-organize, and elect a new leader, while waiting for the alert status to cease.

IF Osama was killed recently, the war between the West and Al Qaeda is far from over.

There also already are independent sections in other countries; I'm not even sure they will wait so long..

Ahem...Osama was not an Idiot. An idiot can't have done what he did.

All? You mean those among us who still believe justice is a positive concept?

As for the aftermath I wouldn't be surprised to see retaliation from various terrorist organizations or diplomatic retaliation from Pakistan.
