Okay we've all celebrated the demise of a huge idiot, but now the thing that has me worried is the aftermath. I would bet any amount of money that Al Qaeda and affiliates are going to do something for revenge. The question is what. The war is on the downslope now, (imo.) but it's far from over, and I'm sure there will be another leader of the Al Qaeda group coming up soon. What does the AG universe think?
Anyways, aftermath = nothing really. Why wait for your leader to die before you execute a plan when you could execute a plan with leaders advice?
I think OBL wasn't really their leader (the last 10 years). He was hiding and had no means of communication. I think he was more like a symbol because he the USA couldn't find/kill him for 10 years. But now that he's dead it could be bad for the terrorists' moral. I don't know what will happen, we will see. But I think that it was just to kill him. Like the Dalai Lama said:
"Forgiveness doesn't mean forget what happened. ⦠If something is serious and it is necessary to take counter-measures, you have to take counter-measures."
Of course I'm not optimistic. The mind of a fool abounds with optimism. I take the realistic approach, and the realistic approach is that Al Qaeda will retaliate.
And I don't feel as if Al-Qaeda is that strong of an organized branch to do something like that again.
They hijacked two planes and flew them into two towers. You don't need that much organization and advanced weaponry for that.

Fair enough, an example of me doing this is by thinking IdrA is a bad player because of his sportsmanship - not how good he is at actually playing.

Because nearly every article I read said that (I won't post them because they are in German). Osama couldn't communicate via internet or phone because that was too dangerous. The Americans would have probably found him. So he wasn't able to have much influence on Al-Qaida. Still he had a symbolic function. And killing him won't change really much but it was a symbolic act. It's like: Don't f*ck with the USA
