Colony is very popular and fun game. My favorite game on all the site, and certainly one of the most entertaining yet so unnoticed and for good reason. The cheaters. The PvP portion of the game is just pure awesome. Sadly, there are several sites dedicated to allowing players to cheat on this game. Other players also abuse glitches in the game. Some of the more morally driven players of the game have composed a list of cheaters in order to minimize their ability to go unnoticed and so that we as a community can take a stand against them, but this simply is not enough. Some players have suggested taking screenshots of cheaters and sending them to Admins to deal with but pictures are really very unreliable and cannot show just how bad this has gotten. The game has a large fan base though many have stopped playing due to this issue. I think it would be very beneficial to Armor Games and also for everyone playing Colony if an admin would just log onto the game and play a few games themselves and ban the players who do cheat with hacks and glitches--who do not even bother to hide the fact that they cheat any longer. This filth.. this blight.. is running rampant and causing AG to look very bad for visitors and for long-time supporters. Please, I beg you, for righteousness sake, do something about it. I have seen many games tank due to issues like this one not being addressed for long periods of time, and this problem has been ongoing for years now. I do not think it would even take much to scare these cowards, just to let them know there is an admin presence on this site that will not tolerate the use of "hacks" or "mods" of any sort. Consider this to be a final warning from a concerned player. If this is not handled soon there may be nothing left to handle. And to be honest, better now than soon.
Next time you should seperate that into individual paragraphs so it doesn't look like a wall-o-text. Many people won't read it since it's a wall-o-text. It's also an eye sore reading stuff like that.
Onto the cheating part - the best thing to do is to provide a screenshot and/or video of the person hacking/cheating on the game then report it to an Administrator of AG. However, if the account gets banned - the person would still be able to hack/cheat on the game - they just won't have an account with doing so.
The game isn't unnoticed at all - it does in-fact have over seven million plays. It also have a high rating - a nine to be precise. I call that being a popular game on the site - not something unnoticed.
Also - people hack games all the time, so no one should be surprised about this and it doesn't make AG look bad at all since so many games at a lot of sites are constantly hacked.
And they can't really handle it - since Krin created the game he has to fix it and such. I don't think the Administrators have any power over his game.
I'm sure it takes time for people to learn how to hack on the game and that a majority players of the game don't hack the game - so I don't see what you're getting at when you say that 'there will be nothing left to handle'.
If you played the game I am sure you would understand better. I say unnoticed in comparison to how much attention i think it deserves and how much it once received. Some may argue the game is outdated, but I have seen the dedicated played who quit, most of them due to a general lack of concern shown for the game. It most definitely makes AG look bad that a popular games receives seemingly no attention at all despite many community outcries. Pictures can be easily shopped to make it appear a player cheats when they do not--I can shop photos and i am not even good with computers. To say "send a pic and i will deal with it" seems quite lazy to me and possibly will only lead to greater confusion and irritation.
I think the solution I offer is needed at this time at which more and more players simply not bothering to log on anymore because of the cheating pandemic. Yes, it is that bad. Sometimes you can be online for an hour and not find a single game that does not have a cheater.
As I said, I do not even think it will take a game update to kill this problem. Most of these cheaters are not B/A rebels or anything, they are cowards who suck and found out they can cheat without being punished. Easy solution: Punish people. Make your presence known for once.

People quit playing games all the time - it's not something you can control. When people lose interest - they stop playing.

Yes - pictures can be easily edited and I can do them myself. It's not very difficult to learn how to do it. However - it's one of the only ways to show that a person hacked. If you don't want to take a picture then you could make a video using cam-studio.
I actually think SoymasterYos has been doing things of the such to attempt to stop hacking on the game. I've read some comments that he and cormyn have had about it.
I do not even think it will take a game update to kill this problem.
If Krin updates the game and makes it harder to hack then it could kill the problem, for the most part.

You can't punish people on a multiplayer game if they don't have an account, so of course that these people will hack because they know that they can't be punished. But as stated before - report them if they have an account with proof.
Easy solution: Punish people.
The hackers are punished if you report it and provide proof of them hacking the game. But they can still play the game without an account and still hack, so it won't do much other than disable them from having an account.

I see your points, I do, but understand that they do not disprove my points. In this case, this case on this game, many people can be stopped from leaving. That is a terrible excuse to do nothing.

Videos would be better than pictures which quite frankly prove nothing since they can be easily shopped, yes? But not everyone is able to due this do to slow running computers which lag intensely during window recording.

Of course an update would be great, but once again, that is no excuse to do nothing.

I understand we will not stop Guest from cheating, but obviously it is much easier for players to exclude guest from games than it is to keep track of everyone who will possibly cheat. Many of the cheaters cheat on their AG accs.

YES! Thats what we want! xD Unfortunately the proof is hard to offer, but oh so easy to find: Just log on and join a game. It will be like walking into a cesspool. Oh-so-many people to ban. It will not be a waste of an admins time by any means and would be oh-so-greatly appreciated by many.
If Mr. Ghost of Matrix works for AG, his posts sound a little snobby: refuting every point Esordereno makes as if they made no sense. It's quite the opposite. Furthermore, GoM's replies show that AG staff don't want more headaches because of this game...
Which is no surprise: AG is a profit driven enterprise, and there's nothing wrong with that. They won't do anything without a good cost/profit relation. But please, don't push AG's work onto players, don't tell us to report anyone... We don't have to proof anything. It's AG's logo there, and if you sign the game, it's your responsability if it works or not.
It would be appreciated if AG just stated, if so, that making a free game to work fine is out of their scope of activity. That, as far as AG concerns, the game is not a problem as it is. That people "loosing interest" won't hurt AG's year budget.
I can perfectly understand that AG doesn't HAVE to take action: it's not on 'terms and conditions'. It just makes me sad that a game so good had such a pitiful fate.
P.S.: I voted for AG as "best site" when they asked. And if another small contribution would be appreciated, new AG logo is not well done. It has too much visual information, not iconical at all. Were it made by some friend of yours or did you actually pay some designer to come up with that?

I don't work for AG. I've read a lot around the site and I'm not opposing much of anything. I'm just telling the person that you have to report the person to Administrators of the site with evidence of them hacking.
That's all you can do.
don't push AG's work onto players, don't tell us to report anyone... We don't have to proof anything.
First of all: It isn't AG's job to get onto every game looking for hackers. If a user finds a hacker then they report it with proof. The AG Administrators job is too maintain the site, updating it and such.
Second of all: If you don't want to report people then quit complaining about people hacking the game.
Thirdly: You don't have to prove a person is hacking? That's idiotic. If that were the case then I could easily say that a lot of people hack on games that I play without proof. You require proof because if you don't have proof then they don't know the person is hacking the game.
I'm under the impression that the OP asked you to post on here to bump his thread. But if you've read my posts at all then you know what to do.
The only thing to do is to report the hackers and provide proof. What do you expect AG to do about the game? You expect them to somehow make it hack-proof? That's impossible, seeing that nothing is hack-proof and that Krin created the game. Krin has to update it if he wants. You should probably mention this on his profile page or E-mail him if he has an E-mail showed on his profile.
But please, don't push AG's work onto players, don't tell us to report anyone... We don't have to proof anything. It's AG's logo there, and if you sign the game, it's your responsability if it works or not.
Who said they are telling us to report hackers? Last I checked, we were doing so on our own time willfully. The developers of multiplayer and sometimes singleplayer games do create updates to help the game out, but they encourage not tell users to report bugs, hacks, what have you. What does this mean? They also do the volunteer work that we choose to do, except both parties realize that cooperation makes for faster and better updates.

AG doesn't have to state this for players to understand. Every game in existence has its loose gears that need fixed every now and then.
I can perfectly understand that AG doesn't HAVE to take action: it's not on 'terms and conditions'. It just makes me sad that a game so good had such a pitiful fate.
Hopefully you're not pointing in AG's direction? Any game can and will be hacked--it's inevitable. Colony, as well as other AG games, are no different.
I get the feeling that you're making out ArmorGames as some....iron-fisted money-making corporation. If AG was really like this, then a few things would be different.

They may not tell us to, but that is the way it feels when it would appear that we are the only ones taking any direct action.
You cannot downplay this. IT IS BAD. IT IS A SERIOUS ISSUE. IT IS ANNOYING. PLAYERS FEEL IGNORED/FORGOTTEN/UNCARED FOR.
Someone i know has a game of his own and his community is pretty freaking terrible, i mean.. they complain all the time over the tiniest things over what is a FREE game and i think they are just spoiled rotten. But that is nothing like what is happening here. We are not upset over personal demands not being made. We are not just complaining that we do not like things as they are, but we are letting you know this problem affects a lot of people and is causing this game to be something it never should have been let to become in the first place.
The community has been patient for the most part and senselessly quiet waiting for Krin to make an update, but everyday that seems less and less likely, so.. what? Do you let one of your best games fall to the wayside because apparently you are busy with more important things. O_o i mean.. my goodness.. just think of all the people i could have invited to play this game, if only i could take any pride in it. LOL who wants to invite people to play something so frustrating?
Trust us people, the cheating problem on colony is not comparable to any other game. 75% of the games you play with strangers have some cheater in.
However, about reporting people with screenshots and about hacking proof, let me clarify. We have obvious evidence of people hacking. But imagine that you're in a colony game. The opponent makes a thousand sphinx in a minute and you take a screenshot. But you can't know the opponent's username from the playing screen, and you also need to take a screenshot of the lobby with all the names and the colors before the start. But then how can you be sure that the lobby you pictured is the one of the match with the hacker?
The only way to be sure is taking a screenshot of a person's stats if the rank is over 10, but that's ridiculously easy to cheat.
They may not tell us to, but that is the way it feels when it would appear that we are the only ones taking any direct action.
That is how you feel. Just because there are hackers and modders out there in the Colony world doesn't mean you cannot play a fresh game with your friends. That is not how the server is set up. Did you ever stop to think of the other things Krin is doing along the way? Because he is not just busy with Colony. He is making other great games for all of us to play. Accosting Krin to try and fix the inevitable hacker problem hurts this process. If you are not satisfied with the apparently "slow" update delays and the inevitable hacking community, then there is a very simple thing that you can do. Either you play rooms with your friends where you are sure there are no hacks being committed, or you simply do not play Colony at all. Krin is busy doing his job by creating other flash games and all you are doing is accosting him. Not only this, but AG is also in the middle of developing AG3 and getting ready for its release. Tackling the hacker problem is a lot like tackling weeds in your back yard; the problem is solved for the time being, but new pests always sprout up.
The cheating is colony is not something AG can fix. It has to be handled in-game. Contact Krin with your issues. There is very little we can do about it.
