It sounds like the problem really is about the system updating. Even if you gain a lot of points in a short amount of time, you may not change rank, for better or worse, until the site updates the points. Right now, you're at 194 and are ranked 29,346. So if you gain points and wait for a while, your rank will change when the system updates.
