I started reading it and I got mad. You shouldn't just let random people into the country.

But the idea as a whole seems great. Though I hate illegal immigrants -- you've always got to compromise. It would help spot the criminals (why else would an illegal Mexican NOT go to get his citizenship?)
And the best part of it is that someone is actually looking to enforce aggression on the Mexican border.

But I think it really depends on how strict the provisions are, I don't want them to build a wall half way and have another 11 million into the country two years down the road.

That's why we are giving them a background check, making them pay back taxes and then sticking them at the end of the line for people allowed into the country. It gets us money and it solves many problems with illegal immigrants. Also, they all have to learn English. That right there is enough to discourage many people from wanting to stay in the first place. It makes them to easy to point out. "Well, this person over here don't speak no Inglish good t'all ma'am. I believe that he is an *conspiratorial Texas whisper* *an ellegal alien, we shuld get him derported."

Over all it is a 13 year process, so I don't see a problem with it at all. They are gonna wait their turn just like everyone else.

This is a link to the CIA factbook. Underneath of "People" there is a statistic on the languages spoken in the US.

Now. This statistic says that 82% of Americans speak English. I don't think that making it easier for people to find work is discriminatory, do you?

depending on where you go, like if someone migrates to LA or some border region they can easily find someplace where many people speak both english and spanish

Exactly, both English and Spanish. I live in Georgia and there are lots of illegal immigrants. I have taken 3 years of Spanish but I still think knowing English should be a requirement for immigration. English is the Lingua Franca so knowing it is important, especially so if you are moving to a predominately English speaking country.

There is already a process that people have to go through. I realize this process is arduous for some people but it still doesn't require doing things illegally.

sorry for double post

Simple solution, any illegal immagrant can earn amensty, provided they do a tour of duty, upon completion, they receive citzenship. I mean hey, if you aren't willing to die for a country you wish to live in, you can kindly gtfo.

and the sick and elderly?

should my grandma who my dad is contemplating to come over and get citizenship have to go to war?

Congratulations! Either the people who classify the USA's languages are idiots, or that's WRONG. Spanish is considered America's second (out of only two) main language, meaning that at least of 30% of Americans speak Spanish. Now, these aren't official, and I mean English AND Spanish, they are just recognized by many a person as such. Not a problem for me, because I'm fluent in both languages. I was born and raised by a full-American family in America's heartland, Iowa, so I consider my bilingual state rather fortunate.

I can only see benefits from any amnesty proposition, so long as after we do such an act we will seriously ramp up border enforcement. A country cannot just have people walk in, what would happen if a terror cell moved in? Right in our backyard would be mass destruction. They can smuggle in tons of coke at a time, why can't they smuggle a nuclear device?

It's not Mexicans that are the problem, it's everyone else.

both have official languages america doesn't

Dude, it's the de facto language of this country.

*Facepalm*
82% speak English, according to the statistic provided yes? Ever heard of people speaking TWO languages? Many are those who have had to learn spanish to communicate with all the illegal immigrants. Why should we all learn their language when they don't even both to follow our laws and rules? If you go to a country you should at least be able to very basically converse with the general populace, otherwise you're just in the way.

@Kasic
Congratulations! You completely ignored my part about my bilingual state!

Not a problem for me, because I'm fluent in both languages. I was born and raised by a full-American family in America's heartland, Iowa, so I consider my bilingual state rather fortunate.

I know what I'm talking about. ^^ Why do you think I learned Spanish? I plan to become a translator somewhere in the near future.
