What I mean by this is political parties. Are you a Republican or a Democrat? or maybe your Independent. Why are you in the party that you are in?

I think that this site, and most online websites I have been to, have about one or two hardline republicans, and the rest are all democrats or lean more towards the left than the right.

I personally think that republicans are "aggravatingly simple minded people" to use something not entirely offensive, and by default, I end up on the leftist side of things.

Neither? They both have good points, and they both have flaws. Republicans want to keep the good, while the Democrats want to change to the good. While Republicans want to keep the bad, and the Democrats want to change to the bad. I don't like any type of government currently operating in this day and age.

I regard myself as independent. I don't particularly like the party system.

Same, plus I'm not even sure we have the knowledge or understanding to fully comprehend how each works. Then again - that's one of the problems.

I think of it like a religion or lively following - if you're "you", then you'll have a hard time finding one perfect to your beliefs.

Not that it matters, I follow Chrisicism, named after my first name.
I was gonna make it Christianity because it sounds better but it was taken. :<

The party system splits America. It makes a nation that is supposed to be united, separated.

However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.

George Washington said it best indie55. He hit the nail on the head. He's probably laughing at us right now.

Sadly, I believe that the political parties are too ingrained in government to do anything about it. If something does get done it will take a long time to happen.

I thought it were very obliviously that Barack Obama is for the moment the president of USA. So you can guess what side of the scale I'm on.

I am a very conservation republican, but I am able to see both points of view, and their pros and cons. So I'll basically never be a politician.

I never figured my earlier point would be so similar to many others'.

| feel pretty much the same. I feel the right has more moral views for the nation but are not always the best in what we need, and Democrats usually work better policies (in my opinion not any lately) but they usually have a simple mind on morality and common sense. I would see myself more as an independent borderline libertarian.

I don't live in the U.S, but if I had to vote, I think I would be more Democrat.

I think that because I say that higher taxes are ok to help the poor, and I think that equality is more important then economic equity.

Also, I completely believe in gay marriage although I am not homosexual. People have their rights to think about.

Independent, but if I had to chose, between the two choices, I would say democrats

How long is too long? A life time? If one person could make a huge difference, but it would take their whole life time, I say sacrifice your life for the betterment of mankind.

Democrat. But no atheist. And I wouldn't vote in favor of gay rights. And I'd like rich people to be taxed like they were before Bush's tax cuts.

Also, as to all the people bashing the party system -- There's no real way to get rid of it.

I say sacrifice your life for the betterment of mankind.
