Does anyone else think that there should still be classic rock bands being made? What happened? In the 80's there were 100's of bands, but now there are like 5 if at all.
Music styles change over time. Think how repetitive music would be now if it was still the same as it was in the 50's. It wouldn't be bad necessarily, but it would get old pretty quickly.
I'll take music that's at least 20 years old over almost anything from this century, but there are quite a few people who disagree with me there. It's all a matter of opinion.
rock has developed so much over the years its been around. from being horns and drums for african americans only, to classic rock, to hip-hop/rap, to metal, to alternative, its just evolved so much. if it was just classic rock bands, it would be boring as hell. i love modern rock, and always will. there just needs to be a balance.
i cant stand people that like modern music only and never appreciate where it came from, and i also hate vise versa that never "got with the times" rock is rock and its the most vast, largest genre there is. keeping strictly to classic rock will just make you ignorant

I actually appreciate what we have now. I dont see how people get crazy over listening to Pantera anymore. It just deosnt get the blood flowing anymore.
There's more variety now, than there was before. Most of the old bands are still making music you have new bands making some tasty music as well and no one stops you from listening to the old albums.
we shouldn't talk about inanimate object here XP sorry bout that. have you heard more recent rock bands like mcr? that shows how rock has evolved from glam to alternative.

well it sounds to me like you just played yourself sick of them, i love them still 0_o
Well, as far as your question OP, there are still plenty of bands that make music similar from 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and etc. You just have to dig around to find them.
Hell dude forget 80's rock, they need more 50's that was REAL rock and roll. Rock after the early 60's never sounded the same and that is a bad thing. You can't compare to 1950's rockers like Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent, Buddy Holly. Or anyone playing back then. That stuff was amazing and still are forever will be. Rock and roll only lived a decade if you ask me.
because it sucked. people needed music with actual feeling and intelligence. And from the 90s grunge era came exactly that. music didnt have to be about just girls, drugs, and rock n roll anymore. (i hate songs that say Rock n roll in them btw! like seriously? why use the name of your own genre in ur songs? after the first 500 songs i think they phrase had been overused)
