Dear gamers,

Over the past few years I have played both flash games and, as it were, "regular" games. There have been only a select few that can compete with other gaming options, such as Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, Crysis 2, Portal 2, and other big titles. These select few combine good gameplay with tasteful graphics and fonts; for instance, Warfare 1944 and Warfare 1917. These are exemplary games.

So, my question is, can flash games compete at all with big titles? I know that's not the purpose of them - they were originally to beat boredom - but some have become quite good. What do you think?

Hmm, I think that there are some flash games that can 'Compete' in the sense of them being thoroughly enjoyable and with a good community, I would have to say though, in my own opinion, that only multiplayer flash games that combine good game play and good multiplayer interaction can actually be as enjoyed as games such as Fallout 3, Devil May Cry, etc.

Look at how successful Angry Birds is on the IOS. That could have easily been a flash game. Like you said, flash games aren't trying to compete with Call of Duty or other big $60 titles.

The main problem with Flash games is the lag. It takes a beast of a machine to be able to play most flash games without lag, and that sucks. That is why I think Flash games, while still interesting, will never be able to compete with normal PC games.

eh.. the warfare games were alright. Personally, i do not understand why they are so popular.. o.0 i guess people have a strange obsession with war games.. it is unhealthy i tell ya..

Personally, i find most "big name" games to be often lacking.. apparently due to a lack of desire to &quotush the envelope" and "build outside of the box"..

Games are becoming more and more like movies and movies are getting more and more pointless, though better looking. A fair trade? I think not.

A game with terrible graphics but great playability tromps a fancy but typical and boring game easily.. i think.

Well, in my opinion the success of flash games is due to the need of quick-made fun, you know what I mean? As long as the player gets fun in the meantime of his life taht fills with flash games, flash games play their fole successfully.
So, when you say 'compete', in which level you mean? In terms of NÂ&deglays, Money gained, Time wasted??
For example, if the best flash creators decided to publish great games weekly, with a monthly-paid suscription, I think they might compete with the 'big titles' in terms of earning money (with the right advertising), as the need for this short, quick, fun gmaes is increasing (short-term satisfaction). [sorry for the lame english, please bear with me]
