I have never had a piece of pork or ham or pig products in my life. What does real bacon taste like, how does it compare to turkey bacon, and what do other trayfe (non-kosher) foods like lobster and shrimp taste like?
[quote]Not really Microe. Bacon is awesome. I use to eat it everyday. And I never got sick of it. It's great. You should eat it sometime.[/quote
I eat it like....every once in a year. Bacon is duper super uper fatty so I prefer staying away from it, unless my mother makes it, and I haven't seen her in a year or so.
whenever someone has a new meat that your sense of touch has never encountered (say snake meat) your sense of smell begins to search for a category in your brain that your familiar with, it continues as you start to eat it and taste it, the brain tricks itself into thinking that it's chicken and therefor the taste resembles that of chicken.
I see, well, that kind of makes sense, didn't actually know or acknowledge that to be a possibility as to why the saying 'Tastes like chicken' ever came to be.
No one answered my other question though; does quorn bacon taste anything like actual bacon?
I have to say this... I used to be a kosher Jew also until i was enrolled in a christian academy and my Dad made me convert... sooo... Pork bacon tastes greasy and fatty which is awesome
its happiness in your mouth. and i'm serious if there is anything you want to eat to go against your religion how ever sinful you are this should be the first thing you eat.
people should be like Andrew Zimmern. He eats anything and everything except walnuts and durian fruit. He's also a Jewish descendent, I don't know if he is practicing, he only mentions that he is. so it is never known up to that point.
I look at it this way. If we as humans want to eat something, eat it. no harm in trying.
bacon is increadibly good. although it's not very filling, it tastes great. but no package of bacon is the same. brand doesnt really matter. some packages cook faster and get crispier than others, some take forever to get that nice, crispy taste, it tastes amazing on a burger. it's really something you need to try for yourself. but if youre gonna stay true to your religion and not eat bacon or any ham product for your whole life, i salute you because that takes some dedication, especially after all of the people on this thread saying how good it is. and turkey bacon is completely different from regular bacon, i normally like turkey versions of different foods, but when it comes to bacon, i'd rather have the real thing.

All I have to say is, if you want to know, try it. It's not easy to explain taste, and even if you do it means nothing until you actually taste it yourself. It's your choice whether to eat it or not, but the fact of the matter is, it's not going to harm you to try.

What people can do is say if it taste the same as fake bacon (tofu) because Jews can eat that.
