Wow, never heard of a trainer you battle have a shiny. Maybe it is a glitch?
Wasn't a shiny; shiny vulpix is yellow. It's really just a glitch.

I have never seen a shiny in a Pokemon game or gotten pokerus and I have played almost every pokemon game for a really long time. I don't have much luck.
Yeah, I've seen only one shiny and had pokerus only one time, on ruby if I remember right.
You lucky devil! I played pokemon at least thrice as much as one of my friends who's a pokefreak, and I think he found something like two or three shinies in his life, whereas I only saw one and couldn't even catch it. I'm talking about legit shinies of course, not the one you get in the story like the red Gyarados. I mean, I know the ratio's about 1 chance in more than 8000, but after playing thousands of hours, it does get pretty discouraging to say you've only met one shiny. Good God, if only I had know back then that shroomish evolves into breloom, I wouldn't have tried to lower his life to catch it; darn critical hits!
But it was like totally random. The only one that you can 100% see is that red Gyarados. At that time I was just lurking around AG looking for a good thread. And I heard that 'shiny pokemon' entry thingy. And I was like, wait a minute...I'm in a cave and I need to contact that red gyarados in order battle it. Then I looked at the game, "What the hell? Color glitch?" I caught it anyway.
Oh yeah and critical hits are hella annoying when you're trying to catch a pokemon. Heh...
Holy macaroni! I was just playing Soulsilver and found a shiny zubat and caught it.
i have a shiny golbat pokemon plat in mnt.cornet ulta-ball lvl48 at chapeher lvl 100 now moves/meanlook/aircutter/sub/toxic and has black sluge for held thing and got transfered to ss then to black ps.its green my fav ;D

I personally like the 3rd generation the best. I played with Emerald the most. Emerald wuz my first Pokemon game. I fell in love with Swampert and how they started using Special and Physical to differentiate the two types of attacks. To me, Gen 5 is unnecessary. Gen 5 feels like they've run out of ideas for designs, so they made Ice cream pokemon :/ I still like my Pokemon White tho. Btw, I had over 500 hours on my Emerald... before I accidentally reset D: and now, I only have 50 hours on White. As the series goes on, my love for the franchise dwindles. I used to love getting Pokemon Cards, and getting up at 9 to watch the show. BUT! They removed Brock, the one of two people that remained constant throughout the series. They switched every Ash girl there ever wuz in the series (My favorite is May Notice how I put "Ash girl" A reference to the term "Bond Girl"

I'd gladly help you, but I transfered all my Ru/Sa/Em pokemons to more recent generations for the sake of keeping them with me as long as possible. Anyhow, I'm having trouble remembering each and every third gen elite...I remember though that Blaziken was amazingly helpful for dealing with Steven's hideously strong steel types; stabbed fighting and fire moves; Hell yeah!!
